Reggie Zachariah, Mario Zanotti-Cavazzoni reappointed to Broward College Board

Two Broward College Board of Trustees members — Zachariah “Reggie” Zachariah Jr. and Mario Zanotti-Cavazzoni — are keeping their posts.

Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Office announced both men’s reappointment to the five-member panel.

Their reappointments are subject to Senate approval.

Zachariah, the Board’s current Vice Chair, is a shareholder with Greenberg Traurig. He first joined the Board at DeSantis’ discretion in early 2020.

Zachariah has also served as a member of the 17th Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, the American Bar Association and is a founding member of the American Heart Association’s Broward PULSE young professionals’ group, among other involvements.

He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.

Zachariah is the son of cardiologist Zachariah P. Zachariah, a prominent GOP fundraiser who has raised millions while personally donating more than $72,000 to Florida candidates at the state level.

Zanotti-Cavazzoni — whom DeSantis first appointed in 2023, when he first reappointed Zachariah — is the Senior Adviser of Organizational Transformation for South American soccer governing body CONMEBOL.

Zanotti-Cavazzoni is a former Senior Vice President of Latin America for telecommunications service provider Millicom International.

He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Universidad Católica de Asunción in Paraguay and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul.

Other members of the Broward College Board include Chair Alexis Yarborough, Michael Caschette and Eileen LaMarca.

Yarborough is married to Shane Strum, a former Chief of Staff to DeSantis who is now the dual CEO of Broward Health and Memorial Healthcare System. State GOP lawmakers have tried repeatedly to pass legislation in recent Sessions to merge the two public hospital systems.

LaMarca is the wife of Lighthouse Point Republican Rep. Chip LaMarca and was listed among the Top 100 Outstanding Women of Broward County by the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County.

Caschette, meanwhile, is the founder of pediatric urgent care business KIDS 1st Urgent Care and previously served as Director of Emergency Services at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.
