Castore, a British sportswear brand, is seeking to expand its presence across the Iberian Peninsula. To that end, it has announced a strategic alliance with Albion 1879, a Madrid-based company specialising in the distribution and development of fashion brands in Spain, Portugal, Andorra, and Gibraltar.

“We are delighted to welcome Castore. Our experience in building and developing premium brands means we can ensure the brand connects with consumers in an authentic and sustainable way, driving robust, long-term growth in the region,” said Nigel White, CEO of Albion 1879 SL.

According to a statement from Castore, the agreement will bring its collections to a range of physical and online retail outlets and will also strengthen its presence among consumers and sports enthusiasts seeking high-performance products, design, and innovation.

As part of its expansion across Iberia, the sports brand also plans to open a flagship store in Puerto Banús, Marbella in 2027. “We are delighted to partner with Albion 1879. Their track record in developing premium brands makes them the ideal partner to drive Castore’s growth and bring the brand closer to consumers in Iberia. We are very excited to be working alongside Nigel and his team, and we hope this collaboration will be a great success,” commented the brand’s co-founder, Tom Beahon.

The entrepreneur also took the opportunity to thank Altrian Global Sports, a Spanish consultancy specialising in business development for sports companies and Castore’s former partner in the Iberian Peninsula, for the work carried out to date. “Castore would like to express its sincere gratitude to Altrian for its invaluable contribution to building and consolidating the brand across the Iberian Peninsula. Thanks to its commitment, experience, and dedication, Altrian has played a key role in laying the foundations for Castore’s growth in the region,” he said.

Founded in 2015 in the UK, the sportswear brand has since established itself as a fast-growing name in Europe, thanks to its collection for the general public and its Team Sports division, through which it manages omni-channel operations, retail, e-commerce, and events for teams such as Athletic Club. Such is the brand’s appeal that it is reported to have received takeover bids from competitors in the sector and, according to Sky News, the company has engaged an investment bank to assess interest from potential bidders.

Albion 1879, meanwhile, was founded in 1996, is based in Madrid and specialises in the distribution and development of fashion, sports, and lifestyle brands in the Iberian market. A few months ago, it entered into a partnership with Le Coq Sportif for its distribution in Iberia.
