Belmont Park Late P5 Picks & Preview: Turf Classic, Vosburgh & Flower Bowl
This week we will be looking at the Late P5 from the new Belmont racetrack. These races include races 7 through 11. The three big races in the sequence include The Gr3 Vosburgh, The Gr1 Turf Classic and The Gr2 Flower Bowl. Keep an eye to the sky, as the weather on the East Coast looks wet and wild. So be sure to tune in Saturday morning at 12:30 PM, when any scratches or weather related changes could affect our selections. Here is how we see the Late P5 on Saturday 9/26/26 from Belmont.
Race 7: 3:34 EST | 1 1/16 Dirt | OC55K/N1X
This is a one turn mile configuration on the new dirt surface at Belmont. The #11 Jadorlinija (8-1) may have a tough post to overcome, but hot jockey Ricardo Santana will make it work. This runner is coming out of good races at Saratoga, and getting better each time out for trainer Miguel Clement. The #5 Boxed Wine (6-1) looks for a win 2nd off the layoff, and gets jockey Manny Franco aboard. Franco is hitting at 47%, and jumps to 62% (13) when riding for trainer Steven Schauer.

Race 8: 4:09 EST | 6 Furlongs Inner Turf | ALW105KN1X
The #7 True Legend (6-1) keeps hot jockey Manny Franco aboard, looking to step up off a very impressive maiden win. Getting Lasix for the 1st time, and jockey Franco had other options in the field. The #6 Joker On Fire (3-1) has run a close 2nd three times in a row. The BSF last 2x out will do the job this time if he matches that figure. The #1 Brisnet.com Prime Power has jockey Ricardo Santana in the saddle.

Race 9: 4:44 EST | 7 Furlongs Dirt | The Vosburgh (Grade 3, $250K)
The tricky 7 furlong distance makes this a good race to spread in the ticket. We like the #7 Crazy Mason (6-1) to get the job done. Once again jockey Manny Franco had options in this race, but sticks with this classy runner. If the speed signed on stays in the race, his closing kick will get the job done. If there is a runner to get a jump on the field, the #4 Contrary Thinking (6-1) has enough experience at 7 furlongs to get the job done on the front end. Jockey Dylan Davis hops aboard for the Lone “E7” pace runner per Brisnet.com in the field.

Race 10: 5:19 EST | 1 ½ Turf | The Turf Classic (Grade 1, $500K)
The #3 El Cordobes (Ire) (5-2) is the clear class of the field. This #1 Prime Power has been running against some of the best turf marathon runners in Europe. Getting jockey Flavian Prat to ride for trainer Charles Appleby seals the deal. The #1 Minaret Station (7-2) represents the best of the stateside runners in the field. Trainer William Walden keeps jockey Jose Ortiz in the saddle. The rail position will give this runner a ground saving trip. In the last 4 races he has run against some of the best marathoners in the country, and finished a close 2nd in 3 of 4 last races, losing by a total of less than 3 lengths combined. Those runners include Survie, Ole Crazy Bone, and Lagynos 2x… none of those runners are here.

Race 11: 5:54 EST | 1 ¼ Inner Turf | The Flower Bowl (Grade 2, $500K)
Looks like the #4 Kathyrnmarissa (8-5) will be the one to beat here. Trainer Chad Brown has given this runner some time off, and was pointing to this race all along. She has not missed a beat prepping for this race with solid workouts in her pocket. There are 4 Ireland bred entries in the race, and some of those will be worth including on our ticket. We feel the #2 Sunlit Uplands (Ire) (6-1) may be the best of the entries, with a solid lifetime record, and a last out solid 2nd place finish at Saratoga.
