Henri-Lloyd is the latest brand to launch an Originals label, debuting for AW26 and bringing together some of its “most recognisable designs, remade for today with the same commitment to purpose, performance and longevity”.

Henri-Lloyd Originals

The sailing-inspired brand said it’s drawn from more than six decades of innovation at sea, with Originals revisiting “signature Henri-Lloyd pieces through a contemporary lens. It combines familiar silhouettes, considered details, and modern fabrics and fits”.

“Our designs were tested by the sailors who defined ocean racing. Originals brings those pieces back, not as replicas, but as the jackets and knits we’d make today if we were starting from scratch with everything we’ve learned since 1963,” said CMO Tom McMullen.

And the company is introducing the line-up with a campaign shot in Norway aboard Eileen II, “a yacht whose own story of enduring design mirrors the philosophy behind the collection”.

The 92-year-old yacht “was built specifically for balance, performance and elegance: nothing unnecessary, nothing without purpose”.

That chimes with he Henri-Lloyd approach, so what does the Originals label offer? Key is the Consort Jacket, whose story began more than 60 years ago. “It was first made from Bri-Nylon, a then-revolutionary fabric that was waterproof, lightweight and flexible,” the company said. “Pioneering sailors wore it, including Sir Francis Chichester on his solo circumnavigation aboard Gipsy Moth IV”.

Today’s Consort has introduced modern materials. It has diamond quilting, 100% polyester fill for warmth, and a PFAS-free DWR finish, with 10,000mm waterproofing and 3,000g breathability. It’s available in navy and light olive.

Then there’s the Jib Jacket that was developed in the 1970s for “those who needed performance with freedom of movement – a lightweight, insulated jacket that became a lasting cultural symbol”. It’s also been updated with modern materials in the same colourways as the Consort.

Meanwhile the Consort RWR was created by Italian designer Olmes Carretti (with RWR standing for Round the World Race). It launched in 1987 as a reinterpretation of the Consort, “designed to bring the energy of offshore adventure into everyday life”. The AW26 version “honours Carretti’s design” with recycled nylon, a PFAS-free DWR finish for responsible water repellency, and updated fits and detailing. It comes in navy blue, light olive and washed yellow.

Other products in the Originals lineup include the Voyager and Hayling Rugby Shirt, the Golant Ribbed Crew and Quarter Zip and the Viking Shore Smock.

The pieces have all launched this week at the Original dedicated webstore.
