Byron Donalds’ campaign through May raises upward of $81 million

More than 35,000 individual donors have now givien to his Friends of Byron Donalds committee.

Republican Byron Donalds has raised about $81.1 million for his run for Governor. Of that, $13.8 million came in just April and May.

This continues a strong pattern of fundraising for the Naples Congressman. The total includes money from both his official campaign and the Friends of Byron Donalds political committee. With early support from President Donald Trump, his campaign has regularly raised more than other GOP candidates.

“These fundraising numbers emphatically illustrate the surging enthusiasm for Byron Donalds’ campaign,” said Gates McGavick, Communications Director for Donalds.

“From Pompano to Pensacola and everywhere in between, Florida Republicans are sending a clear message: Byron Donalds is the Trump-endorsed conservative who has what it takes to make life more affordable and keep the Florida Dream alive.”

The official campaign account, which has stricter contribution limits, has raised $9.2 million through May. About $2.13 million of that came after the first quarter. More than 8,812 people have donated to the official account.

The Friends of Byron Donalds account has reported over $71.8 million in total, with $11.7 million raised in just the last two months. This money came from 35,292 different donors, showing wide support for the campaign.

The campaign announced these fundraising numbers soon after a poll by Fabrizio, Lee & Associates showed 54% of Republicans support Donalds in the primary. Other major GOP candidates are still in single digits.

Donalds is running against Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, hedge fund manager James Fishback, and former House Speaker Paul Renner for the GOP nomination.

A Florida Chamber of Commerce poll shows Donalds leading by 8 percentage points over either major Democratic candidate, David Jolly or Jerry Demings.

Donalds has consistently led the field in fundraising.
