Nancy Bostock nabs support from majority of Pinellas County Commission in School Board bid

As former Pinellas County School Board member Nancy Bostock seeks to return to the Board in District 6, she’s earned support from all but one Republican and the only Democrat on the Pinellas County Commission.

Bostock, herself a former Pinellas County Commissioner, earned support from five of the seven members, including Chair Dave Eggers, Vice Chair Chris Latvala and Commissioners Vince Nowicki, Chris Scherer and Brian Scott. Commissioners Kathleen Peters, a Republican, and Rene Flowers, a Democrat and former School Board member, have not yet endorsed in the race.

While the School Board race is nonpartisan, Bostock is a Republican.

“Nancy knows Pinellas County. As a former County Commissioner and School Board Member, she has the experience to excel in this position Day One. She also has more recent experience as a business leader and will bring fresh eyes to the challenges we currently face in local government,” Eggers said. “I’m proud to endorse Nancy because I know she will deliver results and always put students first.”

Bostock previously served on the School Board from 1998 until 2008 before being elected to the Pinellas County Commission in 2008, where she served one term.

The latest endorsements come after Bostock secured support from incumbent School Board member Stephanie Meyer, whom Bostock is running to succeed. She also landed support from incumbent Dawn Peters and from former School Board members Lucille CaseyCarol Cook, Ken Peluso and Ron Walker.

“I’m honored to have the support of these respected county leaders,” Bostock said. “Pinellas County families deserve thoughtful leadership focused on academic achievement, responsible budgeting, and keeping politics out of our classrooms. I have served on both the School Board and the County Commission, and I understand how to bring people together to deliver these results.”

Meyer was first elected to the School Board in 2022 and chose not to seek re-election after her first term.

Bostock, who announced her campaign in January, will focus her campaign on maximizing student outcomes, providing transparency for parents and ensuring resources are directed toward classrooms.

A lifelong Pinellas County resident, Bostock attended Clearwater High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Florida and a master’s degree in education from the University of South Florida. She serves as President and CEO of Chemical Standard Laboratory, a company that produces a line of specialty chemical standards.
