Byron Donalds slams Kevin Stitt, Governor who endorsed Ron DeSantis for President, on illegal immigration

U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds is hammering Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt after Stitt suggested Democrats aren’t looking to bring in illegal voters to boost their base.

“My Democrat Governor colleagues, they’re not trying to get illegals here to turn them into voters,” Stitt told National Public Radio this week.

“I don’t believe that’s what Democrat, you know, politicians are trying to do. And just like Republicans get a bad rap that people think that Republicans don’t like immigrants, that’s not true. But politics drives you to your corners.”

Republicans are taking issue with these nonconfrontational words, and during an appearance on the “Ingraham Angle” with host Laura Ingraham, Donalds joined the chorus of critics. Stitt notably backed Gov. Ron DeSantis over Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican presidential race, and Donalds is now looking to succeed DeSantis as Governor.

“The Governor of Oklahoma needs to pay attention to what’s happening in America,” Donalds said.

He went on to explain that Democrats need undocumented immigrants to counter attrition among those in the country legally due to policy deficiencies.

“Having served on Capitol Hill (for) six years, I’ll tell you firsthand, the Democrats want illegal aliens. They want them in our voting system. They actually want them also to be in the census count. This is a big one, Laura. They want to use illegal aliens to help supplant, help to replace. The fact’s that they are losing Americans in these heavy blue states, ’cause their policy sucks, and that’s what’s going on,” Donalds said.

Stitt endorsed DeSantis as a “true conservative” in 2023, leading to Trump criticizing him for being disloyal.

More than two years later, one of Trump’s leading surrogates is paying back the Oklahoma Republican.
