Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson is one of the most effective fundraisers in the state, and he’s not letting a vulnerable field slow him down as June begins.
During the first 12 days of the month, he raised $70,000 to his campaign account, which now has more than $307,000 on hand.
But hard money is just the tip of the iceberg.
The Friends of Wilton Simpson political committee has more than $10.2 million banked, with nearly $56,000 raised between June 1 and June 12.
The Florida Green PAC has nearly $11 million on hand.
The Future Florida political committee has nearly $12 million on hand.
The Home Grown PAC has more than $300,000 on hand.
Simpson did not actively raise money for the latter three political committees during the 12-day reporting period.
The incumbent, who was first elected in 2022 after serving as Senate President, faces nominal competition both for the nomination and in the General Election.
Matt Taylor of Plant City raised a little more than $22,000 during the same period, giving him almost $64,000 to spend.
Democrats Joey Mendoza Atkins and Don Prichard self-funded to get on the ballot and neither has more than $8,500 on hand.
Write-in Kyle Gibson hasn’t filed his most recent fundraising report.
