‘This is a regime pledged to Islamic Jihad.’ Ron DeSantis predicted Iranian attack was imminent

The Governor got it right.

Last weekend, Gov. Ron DeSantis told talk show host Mark Levin it was only a matter of time before the U.S. attacked Iran, as ultimately happened Saturday.

“You know, as you look at this regime now tottering, the President has said that he stands with the people who are opposing the regime, and when he says things like that, knowing him, he’s gonna follow through. I don’t think this is a regime where you can do a credible deal with. That is just not how they operate. There’s no way you can negotiate your way out of the fact that ultimately, this is a regime pledged to Islamic jihad. This is what they want. They don’t want to have a peaceful world like we would want to enjoy with our allies. And sothis has been a long time coming.”

He made the comments on Sunday’s edition of “Life, Liberty, & Levin.”

DeSantis had previously suggested that the nation of Iran has a religiously driven suicidal impulse writ large that makes mutual assured destruction an unreliable concept, saying that attacks of the sort that happened in 2025 in coordination with Israel would serve as an “inducement” because of their “very apocalyptic radical ideology.”

Up to 50,000 troops, 14 ships, dozens of fighter jets, 85 fuel tankers, and 170 cargo planes were in the region as he spoke, rivaling the buildup to the two invasions of Iraq under successive George Bush presidencies in the 1990s and 2000s.

Now, the potential conflagration is real, and appears to be turning into a regional war.
