Saratoga continues as the Summer of 2026 rolls on, and we are following suit. Last weekend we were all around winners, and the biggest race in the sequence was a thriller, with Renegade putting in his claim as tops in the division. Here is how we fared, with another “close but no cigar” weekend, mixed in with a number of winners.
Race 8: Heat Missile Delivers Early Value
Our top pick was stuck on the AE and did not make it in (#14 Battis Grove is entered in Race 13 on Saturday). We did have the winner on our short list, #6 Heat Missile, who made it to the winners circle and paid $13.10 to get the P5 off to a nice start.
Race 9: Amberglen (IRE) Keeps the Sequence Moving
Our top pick #9 Lion Lake did not fire, however we did have the winner on our ticket, #6 Amberglen (IRE), who paid $5.32, and kept our P5 ticket rolling along.
Race 10: Renegade Thrills, Speed Duel Costs the Single
The race of the day did not disappoint racing fans, but was disappointing for Let ‘em Run. The race unfolded with #4 Silent Tactic hounding our top pick #1 Chip Honcho. This was an unexpected race flow, as we looked for Chip to be the lone speed. We singled Chip Honcho on our ticket, and when #3 Renegade closed with a flurry to take the top prize, our ticket was done.
Race 11: Dakota Country Fires as the Favorite
As the old saying goes, we got back in the saddle and had the winner #9 Dakota Country, who was the morning line favorite. He ran well as expected and paid a nice $6.86 for the favorite.
Race 12: Nonconsecutivetrms Wraps Up the Card
We had plenty of coverage in this race, if we got this far…but we did not. We did label #5 Nonconsecutivetrms as one of the ones. She ran a solid race, and took her picture for the 1st time and paid $5.84.
Ticket Structure Lessons & Looking Ahead to August 8th
So one leg kept us from hitting another P5, but we took a stand in Race 10 and it did not pay off… this time. Myself and partner John Kostin often talk about ticket structure in horizontal bets, and taking a stand in the sequence is an important element in a P5, and if you are correct, you can separate from the other tickets who are playing along with you. In the end, the P5 paid a chalky $608 for the effort, but hey, a win is a win.
