There has been a site picked out in Portland, Oregon for a Major League Baseball team to play and city elected officials are all for it. That’s the good news. The bad news for people in Portland who want to see a Major League Baseball game is that there will not be any Major League Baseball games played in Portland for years because Major League Baseball is not adding any franchises in the immediate future. The Portland City Council agreed to formally support the Portland Diamond Project’s plans to bring a Major League Baseball team to the city and to build a new stadium along the city’s south waterfront. Mayor Ted Wheeler brought the agenda item to the council with the intention of sending a signal to Major League Baseball and to the rest of the country that the City of Portland is “very serious” about landing an MLB team. But the city council offered no money for the project.
MLB still has stadium issues to resolve in Las Vegas as John Fisher, the owner of a team that is now just called the Athletics, still has not completed his plan to pay the cost of constructing a Las Vegas stadium although Fisher said he will put up one billion dollars for the stadium. There are other stadium issues that need to be resolved in Chicago, in Kansas City and in Phoenix and possibly in St. Petersburg after Hurricane Milton. If MLB adheres to the we won’t expand until we resolve stadium issues then there is the possibility that MLB won’t expand until all of the stadium problems are solved. The Portland Diamond Project has signed a letter of intent to buy Zidell Yards in the south waterfront area. Portland Diamond Project wants to develop the 33-acre former shipyard into a stadium-village.

RANT SPORTS – NASCAR likes to open with a short track exhibition
A week before heading to Daytona for the 2025 NASCAR season, they will kick off the year with an exhibition race on Saturday night under the lights. The event, known as The Cookout will take place at Bowman Gray Stadium, a NASCAR-sanctioned quarter-mile asphalt flat oval short track and a historic football stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The race, also known as The Clash, will mark the debut for several new drivers. Two of the top young talents making their NASCAR Cup Series debuts are Tim Brown for Rick Racing and Burt Myers for Team Amerivet.
This race also features the Front Row Motorsports debut for Noah Gragson and the return of Zane Smith that team. Additionally, Todd Gilliland will be driving the flagship No. 38 after three seasons in the No. 34. Furthermore, Josh Berry iin the iconic Wood Brothers No. 21 Ford.
