It is less than two weeks until Breeders Cup 2026 at Keeneland, on Friday 10/29 and Saturday 10/30. The fields for the races will begin to take shape, and we will be watching closely. There will be special shows leading up to the Breeders Cup, so stay tuned.
Keeneland Late Pick 5 Review
This is our review of how it went in the Late P5 at Keeneland on Saturday. The two turf races in the sequence were taken off the turf. This was not because of rain, the turf course has been getting a little “worn”, and they want it to be in good shape for the Breeders Cup. That affected our ticket and any changes were noted on the 12:30 Let ‘em Run Podcast.
Here is a breakdown of how we did.
Race 6 Breakdown
We had the winner #3 Decimation who paid $8.02 for the win, in our top picks. Our top choice, the #5 Start the Party was very hard to load, and acted up quite a bit before the race. The favorite got out to the lead, but the energy expended in the loading process hampered this runner in the stretch.
Race 7 Breakdown
Our top choice #4 Roscoe’s Brother got out to lead them around the 1st turn, but did not stay on, finishing in 4th place. The #3 Chief Wallabee, our 2nd choice ran a strong 2nd place finish behind winner, the #6 Dr. Kapur, who we did not have, paid $50.24 for the win. John Kostin pointed out how this runner had a chance, on the Saturday show.
Race 8 Breakdown
This was one of the 2 turf races that were taken off turf, ran on dirt, and changed the complexion of the race. Two of our choices were scratched, and our remaining choice, the #3 Hear the Queen finished second.
Race 9 Breakdown
We were all over the winner, #11 Movie Night, who won impressively for trainer William Walden and paid $9.84 for the effort. This runner had many checkmarks that we pointed out in our write up, as well as on the podcast.
Race 10 Breakdown
Another race that was taken off turf, presumably to preserve the turf for Breeder’s Cup racing. Our top pick #5 Epic Lady who we singled was scratched. The field drop to only 7 runners from an initial field of 12.

The weather in Elmont, NY looks good for Saturday, and we will let Keeneland continue to let the turf course heal up for the big days to come. On our Happy Hour podcast on Friday at 12:30, we will deep dive races 6 and 10 in the Belmont sequence. This includes The New York Filly and Mare Turf Sprint, and The Empire Classic, races 6 and 10 respectively.
