Florida Polytechnic University is the best value college in the state and the second-best in the South, according to new rankings from Research.com.
The outlet serves as an online resource for higher education. Its Best Colleges in America rankings also put the Lakeland-based STEM school in the top 10 in the U.S. for educational value.
The outlet determined rankings using several factors, including total cost to attend schools, the availability of financial aid and scholarships, and student outcomes.
“These new rankings reflect our solid commitment to maintaining affordability while empowering students to earn top-quality, in-demand degrees without the financial burden,” Florida Poly President Devin Stephenson said. “Our goal is to ensure students graduate ready to succeed in high-tech fields, free from the weight of overwhelming debt.”
At less than $5,000, Florida Poly has the lowest tuition and fees in the state university system. The school also has the lowest student debt among graduates, on average, and graduates have the highest salaries among all state university system institutions one year after graduation, according to MyFloridaFuture.
The latest ranking, released last month, adds to an overall surge in Florida Poly’s statewide and national stature in higher education. The U.S. News and World Report named the school the top public college in the Southeast and a top 20 public engineering program without a Ph.D. nationally. The organization also ranked Florida Poly the second-best public college in the Southeast by value.
Meanwhile, WalletHub ranked Florida Poly in the top 10 nationally for best career outcomes, and at No. 1 among public colleges. It also ranked the school No. 2 in Florida for best cost and financing, while scoring it at No. 34 on that metric nationally.
“Florida Poly’s unique combination of value, innovation and industry-driven education truly makes us the best choice for the brightest minds of today,” said Andy Oguntola, Florida Poly’s assistant vice president for enrollment management. “Our students graduate with the skills needed to thrive in the high-tech workforce, empowering them to make an immediate impact on their careers and communities.”
Florida Poly is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. It’s the only school in the state university system to be dedicated exclusively to science, technology, engineering and math. The school blends applied research with industry partnerships to provide a balance of academic rigor and real-world relevance.
And it’s hard to miss the school, situated just off Interstate 4. Its iconic innovation, science and technology building designed by Santiago Calatrava has won more than 20 global awards and has been named one of the 16 most breathtaking buildings in the world by Business Insider.
