ST. PETERSBURG — Regular seated tickets through the Tampa Bay Rays are sold out for Monday’s World Series Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers at Tropicana Field. But fans still have a way into the ballpark: Tickets were listed on the secondary market last week and remained available in listings published Sunday.
That distinction matters. A sellout of the team’s regular seating inventory does not mean every ticket holder plans to attend. Seats purchased earlier can return to the market through resale platforms, often at prices well above the original cost.
First pitch is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Monday, October 26. Milwaukee arrives with a 2-0 series lead, putting added pressure on Tampa Bay as the World Series shifts to St. Petersburg.
What Sold Out Through the Rays
According to Sports Talk Florida’s report, updated October 22, the Rays said only standing-room-only tickets remained for Games 3 and 4. Fans seeking actual seats needed to turn to secondary sellers.
At that time, the Rays’ website listed center-field standing-room admission at $800, plus $81.60 in fees. That was not a reserved seat, and the earlier listing does not establish whether those tickets remain available Sunday.
The most accurate description is that regular seating inventory sold out through the Rays, while resale seats remained on the market. Calling the game completely unavailable would overlook those listings.
Resale Tickets Were Still Listed Sunday
A USA TODAY report published Sunday listed Game 3 tickets starting at approximately $811. The report also said tickets remained available for all three potential World Series games at Tropicana Field.
Those figures are a snapshot, not a guaranteed purchase price. Listings can disappear, sellers can adjust prices, and the total can change once fees are included.
Earlier in the week, Sports Talk Florida reported a Game 3 median asking price of $1,456, with the least expensive listings starting at $720 before added fees. Those numbers reflected Thursday morning’s market, rather than current Sunday pricing.
The two reports show that tickets were listed at different points before the game. They do not establish a direct price trend because the listings and timing differ.
A High-Stakes Return to Tropicana Field
Monday will mark the first World Series game at Tropicana Field since October 23, 2008. Tampa Bay’s 2020 World Series appearance took place at a neutral site in Arlington, Texas.
This time, the Rays return home needing to change the direction of the series. Milwaukee won Saturday’s Game 2, 5-4, after overcoming a four-run deficit. The Brewers are now two victories from their first championship.
For fans without tickets, the central point is clear: The Rays’ regular seats have sold out, but that has not closed the resale market. Availability and price remain separate questions.
How to Watch Game 3
Fans watching from home can catch Game 3 nationally on FOX and FOX Deportes, with streaming available through FOX One. Coverage of the game is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Monday.
