Buccaneers have strong TNF ratings

Bucs Had a Big Thursday Night Rating in the Win

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t just deliver an upset win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night. They delivered a massive national audience. The game averaged 16.73 million viewers on Prime Video, continuing what has become the franchise’s most-watched season ever and pushing Thursday Night Football to new heights.

The matchup marked TNF on Prime’s fourth straight year-over-year viewership gain to open the 2026 season. It also became the most-watched Week 5 game in the history of the Thursday Night Football package, a span that includes eight Week 5 broadcasts on traditional television. For Tampa Bay, the win was another reminder of how strongly the team resonates with national audiences during a season filled with prime-time appearances.

Prime Video’s Momentum Continues to Build

Through four games, TNF on Prime is averaging 17.52 million viewers, an 11 percent jump over last year’s record-setting pace. The package is outperforming traditional linear networks in every key adult demo under 55, posting double-digit gains across the board. Even viewers over 55 are tuning in at higher rates, with a 16 percent year-over-year increase.

The Bucs–Cowboys broadcast also stood as the most-watched sporting event of the week beginning October 5, drawing 41 percent more viewers than the second-place program. The game peaked at 18.56 million viewers between 9:00 and 9:14 p.m. ET, underscoring the strength of the matchup and the continued growth of Prime Video’s NFL audience.

Pregame and Postgame Shows Hit New Highs

Prime Video’s studio programming is also surging. TNF Nightcap is averaging 3.50 million viewers, its best start since launching in 2022 and up 27 percent from last season’s full-year average. TNF Tonight is averaging 2.33 million viewers, a 30 percent increase over last year’s early-season numbers.

Both shows have become essential parts of the Thursday night experience, helping Prime Video build a full-night NFL ecosystem that continues to attract younger viewers. TNF’s median audience age of 48.6 is more than six years younger than the NFL’s linear network audience, a key metric for advertisers and league partners.

A Record Season Taking Shape

With the Buccaneers delivering compelling games and Prime Video continuing to expand its reach, Thursday Night Football is on pace for its most-watched season ever. Tampa Bay’s upset win over Dallas didn’t just shake up the NFC—it helped fuel another historic night for the NFL’s digital future.
