Joshua Fury: A British super-clash decade in the making
Anthony Joshua will finally face off with his long-time rival, Tyson Fury, on December 11, 2026, streaming live globally on Netflix. The fight will take place at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, a venue with a capacity of around 80,000. The launch press conference took place yesterday at the British Airways ARC at Olympia in London.
Built as the ultimate British heavyweight showdown, the clash captures over 15 years of momentum. With both men in the twilight of their careers, it is now or never for these heavyweight titans.
Tale of the Tape: The Heavyweight Titans
- Tyson Fury (Age 38, Record: 34-2-1): Standing at 6’9”, Fury has cemented himself as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time. He became the unified heavyweight champion after ending Wladimir Klitschko’s decade-long reign in 2015 and later claimed the WBC title by beating Deontay Wilder in 2020. His only two career losses came against Oleksandr Usyk.
- Anthony Joshua (Record: 29-4): Following his 2012 Olympic success and signing with Eddie Hearn, Joshua experienced a meteoric rise, winning his first world title against Charles Martin in 2016 and adding the WBA, IBO, and WBO titles through wins over Klitschko and Joseph Parker. After navigating losses to Andy Ruiz, Oleksandr Usyk, and Daniel Dubois (at Wembley in 2024), Joshua rebounded with a win over Jake Paul in December 2025 and a victory over Kristian Prenga in July 2026.
15 Years in the Making
Coming through the same UK amateur ecosystem, these two men have been on a collision course ever since they sparred back in 2010 at the Finchley Boxing Club in London. At the time, Joshua was 20 and preparing for the Olympics, while Fury was an undefeated 22-year-old professional with an 11-0 record.
While Fury initially praised Joshua at the launch press conference for exceeding expectations during that famous 2010 sparring session, he has since changed his tune, vowing to “blast” Joshua out of the ring. Joshua has taken a more diplomatic approach, noting that he will use Fury’s taunts to fuel his training camp preparation.
