The Florida man accused of killing his politician wife, Nancy Bowen, told his uncle he shot his wife dead with a shotgun because he “couldn’t take it anymore” … at least according to cops.
TMZ obtained the complaint affidavit from the case against Nancy’s husband, Stephen Bowen, and police say a man claiming to be Stephen’s uncle called 911 and said his nephew confessed to killing Nancy.
In the docs, police say detectives met with Stephen’s uncle, Owen Small, after his nephew’s arrest … and Owen reported Stephen had come to his home and asked him to hang on to a shotgun for a couple weeks.
Owen said he asked Stephen if he shot someone, and Stephen explained he shot his wife three times and then slept downstairs. Police say her body was found wrapped in a comforter and trash bags in the bed of the second-floor master bedroom.
Also in the affidavit, cops say Nancy’s colleagues in the Coral Springs government texted Stephen when she didn’t show up for a meeting Wednesday morning … and he replied, “Where is she? Her car is not home.”
Nancy was the commissioner and vice mayor of Coral Springs … and she was gearing up to run for Congress.
