Yvette Drucker leads Palm Beach County Clerk’s race by double digits

Democrat Yvette Drucker is on track to supplant Republican Mike Caruso as Palm Beach County Clerk and Comptroller, according to new internal polling that shows her with a double-digit lead in the contest.

In a theoretical head-to-head matchup, Drucker is ahead by 10.8 percentage points, with 48.4% of voters saying they will vote for her compared to 37.6% who say the same for Caruso.

Another 13.9% are undecided, according to pollsters from Beacon Insights.

The survey found Caruso is underwater in terms of favorability, with just 15.4% of voters holding a positive view of him compared to 17.6% who view him unfavorably.

Most say they have no opinion of him one way or the other.

Caruso’s net unfavorability in the poll may be attributable to partisan politics. Though he was appointed Clerk in August by Gov. Ron DeSantis, who won Palm Beach County by 3 points in 2022, voters there narrowly chose Democrat Kamala Harris in 2024 over Republican Donald Trump, and Democrats still hold a 13,201-voter advantage in the county.

Pollsters found Trump has a net local favorability of -18.6 points, despite arguably being the county’s most famous resident.

And while Caruso won re-election to his former seat representing House District 87 last year by 19 points, Democrat Emily Gregory won a Special Election to replace him last week, marking the first time the district flipped blue this century.

Beacon Insights surveyed 639 registered voters by text March 24-25. The poll had a 3.8-percentage-point margin of error at the 95% confidence level.

Drucker, a sitting Boca Raton Council member, entered the Clerk’s race in August after previously running for Senate. She’s since racked up numerous endorsements and raised close to $173,000 between her campaign account and political committee, Drucker for Florida.

“Across Palm Beach County, voters of all backgrounds are demanding something better: a government that is transparent, accountable, and focused on delivering for the people it serves,” she said in a statement. “That’s the kind of leadership I’m committed to bringing to the Clerk’s office.”

Caruso filed to run Feb. 5 and won’t have to submit campaign finance reports until April 10.

Republican Samuel Thompson, a former Navy SEAL, is also running. He reported raising $100 — all self-given — in the last quarter of 2025.

The Primary is Aug. 18, followed by the General Election on Nov. 3.
