Viola Davis says she judged some of Chadwick Boseman‘s choices on the set of “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” … unaware he needed extra pampering because he was so sick.
The EGOT winner sat down for an interview with The Times — published Friday … and, she discussed the 2020 flick based on August Wilson‘s seminal play of the same name, which also happens to be the last part Boseman ever filmed.
Davis says — like many people around the world — the cast didn’t know Chadwick was sick … so, when she saw Boseman’s girlfriend and make-up artist rubbing his back and playing meditative music, she was a bit critical.
Viola tells The Times, “There was a part of me that was a little judgmental — why do you need all that? Little did I know that they were doing it because he was dying.”
Filming for the flick took place in summer 2019 … about a year after filming wrapped — on August 28, 2020 — Boseman died of colon cancer. He was just 43 years old.
After his death, his family revealed he was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and he battled it for years as it became stage IV before he finally passed away … so, he was in the throes of his cancer battle while shooting ‘Ma Rainey’s.’
Months after he died, Viola called him a beautiful man and artist who “had a quality that very few have today, whether young or old, which is a total commitment to the art form of acting. Regardless of ego, regardless of any of it. He was with the same agent he had when he started his career.”
Sounds like Viola was a little hard on him in her mind … and, she’s admitting to it now.

Jason Kelce and his wife, Kylie, are officially parents to four girls!
Kylie announced the birth of their fourth child, a baby girl named Finnley “Finn” Anne Kelce, on Instagram Tuesday night with a sweet carousel of her newborn, including one precious snap of Jason cradling her in his arms.
Finn was born on March 30, the new mom confirmed.
The “Not Gonna Lie” podcast host and retired Philadelphia Eagles center are also parents to daughters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 4, and Bennett, 2.
They announced their pregnancy in November 2024 by sharing a hilarious picture of their daughters wearing matching pink “big sister” sweaters. Each child showed varying levels of excitement about the news, with Wyatt looking stunned with her hands holding her head, Elliotte grinning, and Bennett sobbing.

Their big baby news came just months after Kylie shut down insensitive pregnancy rumors … and revealed she takes the conversation seriously because she previously suffered a miscarriage.
On this week’s episode of “Not Gonna Lie,” Kylie confirmed labor is “imminent” and that she would be medicated during birth, candidly noting … “I just want a fat needle in my back. That’s it.”

Cory Booker just made history … and he’s getting recognized by his fellow Senators with a huge round of applause and a standing ovation.
The Senator from New Jersey has been giving a speech for over 24 hours on the Senate floor and he just broke a longstanding record for the longest Senate speech on record … resulting in cheers from his fellow Senate Democrats.
Booker is railing against all of the changes and upheaval from the second Donald Trump presidency … and Sen. Chuck Schumer briefly chimed in Tuesday to deliver Booker news of his record-setting performance.
Cory broke a record that stood for nearly 70 years … in 1957 Sen. Strom Thurman talked for 24 hours and 18 minutes in a rebuttal to the Civil Rights Act.
Booker’s been speaking since 7 PM ET Monday and he hasn’t left the Senate chamber or gone to the bathroom … he hasn’t eaten anything and has only consumed a little bit of water.

Morgan Wallen is looking to cash in on his viral explanation of his abrupt exit from “Saturday Night Live” … selling merch with his new catchphrase.
The country music star has a bunch of new offerings on his official online store … namely, shirts and hats with the phrase “Get Me To God’s Country.”
Morgan slapped the phrase on a white tee and a couple different trucker hats … and he’s hawking them all for $45 a pop. Hey, no one said God’s country was cheap.

Of course, Morgan caused a stir over the weekend when he beelined it for the exit during the outro on ‘SNL’ … leaving the stage in a hurry while the rest of the cast hugged.
Morgan then posted an Instagram story of a private jet with the caption, “Get Me To God’s Country.”
Despite the messy exit, our sources have told us NBC is not holding a grudge and want to have Morgan back on the show in the future.
Meanwhile, lots of folks are having fun with the ‘God’s country’ quip … including one ‘SNL’ writer and now Morgan himself.
