VAR Checks take on new meaning as Bally Bet Pledges donations per check to boost testicular cancer awareness

As part of its ‘Check Your Bally’s’ awareness drive for Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, Bally Bet will donate £100 to The OddBalls Foundation for every VAR check across the Premier League this weekend.

VAR checks to be given a life-saving purpose

As part of its ‘Check Your Bally’s’ awareness drive for Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, Bally Bet will donate £100 to The OddBalls Foundation for every VAR check across the Premier League this weekend.

VAR checks have become a familiar part of the modern game, with fans often waiting while key decisions are reviewed again and again. This weekend, those moments will serve as a reminder of something more important.

Every time the game stops for a check, Bally Bet will make a donation, linking the idea of checking on the pitch with the importance of checking yourself off it.

Across the full round of Premier League fixtures, each VAR check will trigger a £100 donation, with funds going directly towards The OddBalls Foundation’s work in raising awareness and supporting men’s health.

The initiative forms part of Bally Bet’s wider ‘Check Your Bally’s’ awareness drive, which encourages fans to take a few seconds to check themselves for signs of testicular cancer.

Around 2,400 men are diagnosed with testicular cancer each year in the UK, more than six new cases every day. A simple check takes just 30 seconds, and with early detection leading to a survival rate of over 95%, regularly checking can make all the difference.

Former Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa midfielder Henri Lansbury, who himself battled testicular cancer said: “As footballers and fans, we’re used to constantly checking things during a game. This is just a reminder to take that same approach off the pitch. It’s quick, it’s simple, and it could help catch something early. It’s great to see this initiative not only raising awareness but driving action and now making a difference with donations too. Let’s hope for one weekend (and one weekend only) VAR checks and checks again, so we can continue to raise awareness and make a difference!”

The OddBalls Foundation to supply quote – impact money raised could make

While players and fans wait for decisions to be checked, Bally Bet aims to use those moments as a simple prompt. It only takes 30 seconds to ‘Check Your Bally’s’, and it could make all the difference.

Bally Bet will help The OddBalls Foundation raise furthercrucial awareness through a dedicated matchday takeover ofNottingham Forest vs Burnley in the Premier League on 19 April.

Using the natural habits of football fans, Bally Bet will deliver the ‘Check Your Bally’s’ message across stadium LEDs, big screens and the matchday programme, reminding supporters that checking should not stop at offsides, penalties and last-minute winners.

Crucially, ‘Check Your Bally’s’ will move beyond awareness and into action. The OddBalls Foundation will have their ‘Oddpod’ on site at the City Ground, offering fans the opportunity to get checked on the day and speak to trained professionals.
