Fury returned after a long layoff and dominated Makhmudov at the main event Saturday

Tyson Fury picked up a unanimous decision win over Arslanbek Makhmudov at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night has set the stage for the biggest all British heavyweight showdown to date with Anthony Joshua.

Makhmudov came into the fight at a colossal 265 pounds and entered the ring to menacing siren noises, signaling his intent from the outset. Fury, making his return after a fifth retirement and a 16 month layoff, stepped back into the spotlight in London looking to deliver a statement performance.

Electric Atmosphere in London

Fury entered the ring to a thunderous ovation from the home crowd, showing gratitude and paying tribute to his late friend and fellow boxer Ricky Hatton. The stadium erupted with pyrotechnics and lights as the Gypsy King made his first UK appearance since his win over Derek Chisora in December 2022.

The two heavyweights, combining for 532 pounds, wasted no time as the main event got underway.

Early Pressure From Makhmudov

Makhmudov attempted to disrupt Fury early by closing the distance with clinches and wild punches. Fury responded in the second round by establishing his jab, slowing the pace and beginning to control the distance.

By the third round, Fury started landing effective inside shots that halted the Russian’s momentum. Makhmudov continued pressing forward, but Fury’s movement and control kept him one step ahead.

Fury Takes Control

As the fight progressed, Fury’s rhythm became more pronounced. His disciplined jab and patience kept Makhmudov at range, while his punch output steadily increased. By the seventh round, Fury had thrown more than double the punches of his opponent, highlighted by a sharp right uppercut that broke through the guard.

Makhmudov showed resilience, continuing to push forward despite absorbing punishment. However, Fury’s superior ring IQ and control dictated the tempo throughout the middle rounds.

Championship Rounds Seal the Victory

Entering the later rounds, Fury imposed his physicality, backing Makhmudov onto the ropes and targeting the body. His ability to control positioning and set up combinations proved decisive.

By the final round, Makhmudov showed visible signs of fatigue as Fury closed out a comprehensive performance to secure the unanimous decision victory.
