The defending NCAA II World Series Tampa Spartans seized momentum in the second inning and never let it go. Belmont opened the scoring with a run in the top half, but Tampa answered with a four‑run surge that flipped the game instantly. The Spartans attacked early pitches, drove balls into the gaps, and forced Belmont’s starter out of rhythm.

Tampa won its 11th game in its past three trips to Cary. The Spartans are 11-2 in the DII baseball finals since 2024. They have sent quite the message in each of their past three opening games, beating UIndy 9-3 in 2024, Felician 20-3 in 2025 and Bentley 13-2 in Saturday’s opening victory. The Spartans hope to become the first team in NCAA history to win three straight World Series championships and their tenth championship overall.

Tampa kept pressure on Belmont’s bullpen with disciplined at‑bats and steady traffic on the bases. The Spartans added nine more runs between the fourth and seventh innings as every part of the lineup contributed. Tampa finished with fifteen hits and multiple run‑scoring innings that pushed the margin out of reach.

After the early run, Tampa’s starter settled in and controlled the strike zone. He retired hitters in order across multiple innings and limited Belmont to scattered contact. Belmont managed only five hits and never mounted a sustained threat after the third inning.
