Tampa and Orlando were also ranked highly for availability of jewelry stores.

Orlando and Tampa are among the best major U.S. metros to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

A new analysis by financial advising firm WalletHub ranked the two Florida locales among 20 best big cities for partaking in the romantic day. Orlando placed 11th, while Tampa came in 16th.

WalletHub analysts looked at the top 100 largest cities in America to compile its rankings. The list also involved measuring 25 key metrics, including florists per capita, forecast precipitation and cost of meals. Those factors were used to arrive at an overall score.

San Francisco was the top city on the list, with a total Valentine’s Day score of 78.33. That was followed by San Diego in second with a score of 74.8, and Las Vegas in third at 74.32.

Orlando had a score of 68.75. Orlando was listed 49th in the country for affordability. But the Central Florida metropolis was listed as third in the country for availability of activities on Valentine’s Day.

Tampa posted a score of 65.35, but also had affordability issues, ranked No. 40. Tampa was ranked No. 22 for both gift accessibility and activities.

Both Tampa and Orlando were among the tops for jewelry stores available per capita. Orlando was tied for first with Scottsdale, Arizona, for jewelry stores. Tampa was ranked fifth.

Orlando also finished first in florists per capita, tied with Honolulu. Miami finished fifth on that list.

South Florida hub Hialeah had the dubious distinction of being among the most expensive places to get a meal on Valentine’s Day, coming in at 96th.
