Stella McCartney Kids has debuted a limited-edition unisex capsule in collaboration with Paramount’s Nickelodeon, celebrating the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants.

And of course, given McCartney’s dedication to all-things sustainable and that the character subject is both animal and sea-based, there’s a strong ethical marine focus on both.

According to the brand, 93% of marine life could be at risk of extinction by 2100 due to climate change, and fashion plays a significant role in ocean pollution. In response, 93% of the collection is made from eco-friendly materials, staying true to McCartney’s mission of sustainable luxury. The range is also made from 100% cruelty-free materials, thus “protecting our fellow creatures and Mother Earth for future generations”.

Bombers, bags and swimwear are woven in recycled materials, keeping more plastic waste out of our oceans, it noted.

The 38-piece collection, which brings the world of Bikini Bottom and SpongeBob’s friends Patrick, Gary, and Plankton to life, features ready-to-wear, swimwear, footwear and vegan accessories for girls and boys, aged 0-14.

It includes acid wash yellow and vintage wash organic cotton denim sets embroidered with the whole Bikini Bottom gang, alongside a crochet line-up in bright yellow featuring SpongeBob SquarePants himself.

A tie-dye theme features on organic cotton jersey, fleece and denim sets, with McCartney typography iterations available in block colourways. Monochrome sketch versions are drawn on pinstripe cotton poplin sets, faded denim shorts and boxy tees.

The line is available online at stellamccartney.com, in selected Stella McCartney boutiques globally and selected stores worldwide.
