Johnny Tillotson — a well-known pop singer with multiple top 10 hits over the years — has died … TMZ has confirmed.
The songwriter’s wife, Nancy, announced the news on her Facebook page Wednesday morning … revealing the veteran musician passed away yesterday. Nancy highlighted Tillotson’s many achievements through the years, and thanked his fans for always supporting her husband.
We spoke with Nancy, who tells TMZ … Johnny died due to complications from Parkinson’s, at his home in L.A., surrounded by family.
Tillotson rose to fame in 1960 … releasing “Poetry in Motion” — his best-known song — which peaked at No. 2 on the charts in the U.S. He followed it up with “Without You” the next year, which hit No. 7.
Among his other well-known songs … “Talk Back Trembling Lips,” “You Can Never Stop Me Loving You,” and “It Keeps Right On a-Hurtin'” — which Dean Martin, Bobby Darin and Elvis Presley all covered.
Johnny was a two-time Grammy nominee … receiving a nomination at the 5th and 8th Grammy Awards way back in the ’60s.
Tillotson last released an album — titled “Johnny Tillotson” — back in 1977.
He is survived by Nancy, his stepdaughter Genevieve, his brother Dan, and his grandchildren, Nia, Jackson, Georgia and Gwyneth, as well as various nieces and nephews. He was 86.

All is well between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Roberto Clemente‘s family after the baseball legend’s tribute was inexplicably removed from the outfield wall padding at PNC Park … with Roberto Clemente Jr. telling TMZ Sports the two sides hashed things out on Monday.
The Pirates sparked quite the controversy when the No. 21 logo in honor of the late MVP was replaced by an ad for a cocktail company over the weekend … with fans — and Roberto Jr. himself — expressing shock over the move.

Pirates president Travis Williams took the blame for the mistake on Sunday … and said the symbol would be returned to the right field wall.
We spoke with Roberto Jr. on Tuesday about the whole ordeal … and he said after a productive meeting, he truly believes it was an error — and there are plenty of positives to take out of the situation.
“It was myself, my wife and my brother, Luis Roberto, we spoke with the president, Travis Williams, who actually said that it was his responsibility,” Roberto Jr. told us.
“[He’s] someone that I respect and I think that we had a very good conversation. I believe that he understands a little bit more deeper some things that even prior to him coming into his position have been going on and I think that we are on a really good track to continue this collaboration.”
Roberto Jr. said he would love to work with the franchise on programs, events and initiatives that continue Clemente’s legacy by leaving a lasting impact on the community … and had a direct message for Pirates fans, as well as the organization.

As for all the drama … Roberto Jr. put it simply — “Families have miscommunications sometimes.”
“We truly believe we are family and things happen. We’re all human. We make mistakes. I’m sure that mistake showed a very big sign of how the fans feel about Clemente and something was learned.”

Dead At 27

Former Louisville linebacker P.J. Blue — who was teammates with Lamar Jackson on the Cardinals — has died at 27 years old, the school announced Tuesday.
“We are saddened by the passing of Cardinal Forever P.J. Blue,” university officials said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with his loved ones.”

The cause of death was not made immediately available.
Blue joined the Cardinals roster in 2016 — the year Jackson won his Heisman Trophy — and redshirted. He then sat out all of the 2017 season after tearing his ACL.
In 2018, he saw his first game action for Louisville … logging snaps in 11 total contests. He ended the year with four total starts and 39 tackles.
He went on to miss the 2019 season due to another knee injury.
Prior to his time at Louisville, Blue was a high school star at Park Crossing H.S. in Alabama … ending his career as a three-star prospect.
Super Bowl champion Mekhi Becton, who also played with Blue at Louisville, mourned his former teammate’s passing on Instagram — writing, “Rest in Paradise brudda!”
