A year after its debut in India, at the end of 2024, Portuguese brand Salsa Jeans has opened three additional stores, taking its store count in the country to nine- a move that underscores its commitment to “one of the most dynamic markets with the greatest growth potential for the global fashion sector.”

The fashion brand specialising in denim has opened new stores in the cities of Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram, strengthening its presence in “high-traffic commercial locations with a premium profile” that enable it to “reach an urban and cosmopolitan audience,” the company said in a statement.

Following this expansion, Salsa Jeans now has four stores in Delhi- at Ambience Mall Vasant Kunj, Pacific Mall, Select Citywalk, and Khan Market. In addition, it has a presence in the Delhi metropolitan region with two stores in Gurugram, at Ireo Grandwalk and Ambience Mall, and one store in Noida, to the east of Delhi. There are also stores in Mumbai, at Phoenix Palladium, and in Bengaluru, at Orion Mall.

Noting that India “is one of the world’s economies with the greatest growth potential, with 80 million families expected to enter the middle class by 2030,” João Martins, CEO of Salsa Jeans, says: “As such, it will also be one of the most dynamic markets in the coming years for the fashion sector. Our operation has been growing at a healthy pace, with a consolidated presence in several cities, confirming our confidence in the market, as well as in our partner, with whom we have been building this successful strategy.”

Pursuing a wholesale model to expand its presence in India, Salsa Jeans has partnered with Lyskraft Group, an alliance that allows it to “grow in the Indian market with the support of an experienced local operator who is close to the consumer,” concludes the company.

Founded in 1994 and wholly owned by Sonae since 2020, Salsa Jeans reported turnover of €180 million in the 2024 financial year. It is currently present in around 50 countries.
