Robin Peguero, Eliott Rodriguez in dead heat against María Elvira Salazar in CD 27

A new poll suggests U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar faces a competitive race in Florida’s 27th Congressional District, with two Democratic contenders now within striking distance of the incumbent Republican.

The survey, conducted March 6-8 by New York-headquartered Blueprint Polling, shows Democratic Primary contenders Robin Peguero and Eliott Rodriguez running close to Salazar in hypothetical matchups.

In a head-to-head race against Salazar, 40% of respondents said they’d support Peguero, a former federal prosecutor and Jan. 6 Committee investigator, while 43% said the same of Rodriguez, a retired TV news anchor.

The 3-percentage-point difference between the Democratic candidates fell well within the poll’s 4.61-point margin of error.

Thirteen percent of voters said they were undecided in the Peguero matchup, with a 47% share siding with Salazar. In the Rodriguez contest, meanwhile, 11% said the same, leaving Salazar with 46% support.

Despite Rodriguez’s higher public profile, the survey indicated little measurable advantage. About 57% of respondents said they had not heard of Peguero, compared with 40% who said the same about Rodriguez.

Yet the two candidates posted nearly identical results against Salazar, suggesting that Rodriguez’s stronger name recognition has not translated into stronger ballot support.

Blueprint surveyed 451 General Election voters over three days through March 8, two days before Rodriguez formally announced his candidacy and exactly a month after reports that he was “seriously considering” a CD 27 run surfaced.

Notably, the survey did not include insights for Democratic candidate Richard Lamondin, who has raised roughly $700,000, about $300,000 more than Peguero, since entering the race in mid-May 2025.

Internal polling Lamondin’s campaign conducted the same month he launched his campaign showed him within striking distance of Salazar — 43% support for him compared to 46% for the incumbent.

Peguero entered the race two months later.

CPA Alex Fornino is also running, according to Federal Election Commission records, though his fourth-quarter gains came in at just $250. Last week, Trump donor-turned-critic and documentary subject Lev Parnas announced he will also seek the CD 27 seat as a Democrat, though federal records have not yet shown him filing paperwork to do so.

CD 27, one of three Florida districts that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has highlighted as “in play,” covers Miami, Coral Gables, Cutler Bay, Key Biscayne, Pinecrest, North Bay Village, South Miami, West Miami and several unincorporated areas.

The Primary Election is on Aug. 18; the General Election is on Nov. 3.
