Robin Peguero campaign reports crossing $800K mark toward flipping CD 27 blue

Democrat Robin Peguero is entering the second quarter of 2026 touting a milestone: more than $800,000 raised toward his bid for Florida’s 27th Congressional District.

Peguero’s campaign announced this week that he has brought in more than $820,000. That includes more than $340,000 since New Year’s Day — the largest quarterly haul of his campaign so far and more than any other candidate has reported raising in a single quarter.

Peguero’s campaign stressed that his gains have been exclusively grassroots, with no corporate PAC money or self-loans.

More than 6,000 individual donors have given to him since he entered the race in July 2025.

He also carries endorsements from a slew of current and former elected officials and community leaders, including U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, state Rep. Ashley Gantt, Miami-Dade School Board member Joe Geller, Miami-Dade Community Council members Johnny Farias and Venusmia Fernandez Lovely, Coral Gables Commissioner Melissa Castro, Key Biscayne Council member Frank Caplan, Cutler Bay Council member B.J. Duncan, and groups like Latino Victory Fund, the Congressional Black Caucus PAC and Congressional Hispanic Caucus BOLD PAC.

“We’re seeing across the country that the American people are looking for new and energetic leadership, and that momentum is on our side,” Peguero in a statement.

“Right here in Florida, Democrats were able to flip two deep red seats, including Donald Trump’s home district. The path to flipping the House runs through Miami, and I’m ready to take on María Elvira Salazar come November.”

In the Democratic Primary, Peguero faces former entrepreneur Richard Lamondin, TV newscaster Eliott Rodriguez and businessman Lev Parnas, a Trump donor-turned-critic and documentary subject.

The winner will face three-term Republican U.S. Salazar, who last won re-election by 21 percentage points.

CD 27, one of three Florida districts that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has highlighted as “in play,” covers Miami, Coral Gables, Cutler Bay, Key Biscayne, Pinecrest, North Bay Village, South Miami, West Miami and several unincorporated areas.

The Primary is Aug. 18, followed by the General Election on Nov. 3.
