Rick Scott remembers father on D-Day

U.S. Senator Rick Scott is keeping the memory of World War II alive.

On Saturday, the Naples Republican and Navy veteran is remembering what many members of the military had to do on D-Day, the famous 1944 World War II military operation wherein more than 160,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy and made first headway in the liberation of German-occupied France

Orba Scott, who raised the Senator, was among those engaged in the operation.

As the Senator recounts, his adopted dad “parachuted behind enemy lines and selflessly fought for the well-being and freedom of Americans and families across the world.”

“My father was blessed enough to return home from battle, but many brave individuals made the last full measure of devotion in defense of freedom and didn’t return home,” Sen. Scott said.

Scott vows to continue fighting for those who have fought for America.

“As your U.S. Senator, a Navy veteran and the son of an Army veteran, I am fighting every day to improve our military, take care of our nation’s veterans, and protect your legacy so the next generation knows and appreciate the sacrifices made for their freedoms.
