Mayor Rich Walker says his job isn’t finished in Parkland.
Walker is seeking re-election to the post he first won in 2020 and retained unopposed 2022. So far, he’s the only mayoral candidate running.
“Serving as Mayor of this amazing city has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Walker said.
“Together, we’ve kept our focus where it belongs — on safety and security, on a high level of service and infrastructure, and on preserving Parkland’s special quality of life. There is more work ahead, and I am asking our residents for the opportunity to keep moving the ball down the field — together.”
Over the past years, Walker’s campaign said he’s worked with the Parkland Commission and city staff to “strengthen Parkland’s hometown character.”
They’ve invested in drainage, roadway and park improvements while maintaining the tax rate and making “critical investments,” the campaign said, including the purchase of the former Heron Bay Golf Course, which is being turned into a “signature community gathering place” and partially developed for housing.
Parkland Clerk’s Office records show Walker, a father of five and the owner of a signage company, filed to run for re-election last October.
Since then, he’s raised $750 — two-thirds of it from his bank account — and spent nothing.
Other announced candidates include City Commissioners Simeon Brier and Jordan Isrow, who are running unopposed for their District 1 and District 2 seats, respectively.
Parkland’s General Election is Nov. 3, with early voting running from Oct. 19 to Nov. 1.
All candidates are seeking four-year terms.
