Premier League Darts Night 3: Can Littler and Humphries Hit Back in Glasgow?

Luke Humphries (PDC)

The Premier League’s opening two weeks have brought many interesting twists. Pre-tournament favourites Luke Littler and Luke Humphries have yet to make it past the semi-final stage, while Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price have flown out of the traps, with Mighty Mike reaching both finals and ‘The Iceman’ Price in chilling form as he claimed last week’s win.

As the show rolls into Glasgow for Night Three, we take a look at the quarter-final line-ups and consider how the night could unfold.

Quarter-Final Line-Ups, Form and Predictions

Stephen Bunting v Gian van Veen

Premier League debutant Van Veen reached the final in the opening week before being defeated in the quarter-finals last week by an inspired Gerwyn Price. Bunting, to his dismay, has started this year much like the 2025 edition, losing both matches so far.

It took Bunting until Week 9 to pick up his first victory last year and, given Van Veen’s form, it feels unlikely he will get off the mark this week.

Prediction: Van Veen

Luke Humphries v Josh Rock

Humphries has yet to make a final in the league, but earlier this week he won Players Championship 4 for his first title of the calendar year. Rock, on the other hand, posted one of the worst three-dart averages in tournament history, managing just 79 in last week’s defeat to Van Gerwen.

Following two further surprising defeats in this week’s Players Championship events, and with Humphries not one to give an inch when an opponent shows weakness, this could be a quick victory for ‘Cool Hand’.

Prediction: Humphries

Michael van Gerwen v Luke Littler

MvG is close to rediscovering his best form, with two final appearances and one victory already putting him top of the league in its early stages. Littler has struggled in the league, losing last week in the semi-finals to the Dutchman, but if anyone can turn on the style and go on a surge of victories, it’s the 19-year-old sensation.

This should prove to be Van Gerwen’s biggest challenge to date and, if he vanquishes the reigning world champion, we can begin to talk about a true return to his best. Expect this to be a mini classic.

Prediction: Van Gerwen

Jonny Clayton v Gerwyn Price

Clayton has made a solid, if unspectacular, start to the league, but when in top form he is hard to live with. Price, however, appears close to his best and, with his Week Two victory and a recent 10–0 head-to-head record over his Welsh compatriot, he will head into the contest full of confidence.

Prediction: Price

Who will win Week 3?

By Week 3, everyone should have settled into the general rhythm of the league structure, and a run of bad results can leave you stranded early, which only increases the pressure. This means it would be a major success if Josh Rock or Stephen Bunting were to pick up a victory.

But the tournament also rewards those that are in solid form and should Luke Humphries bring his best, he should make the final on his side of the draw.

On the other side, it will be a contest between Price, Littler, or Van Gerwen, and with Premier League form on his side, Week Three could see a third consecutive final for MvG.

If the final is Humphries vs. Van Gerwen, expect heavy hitting from ‘Cool Hand’ to edge over the line for his first win of the league.
