Plans for one of Northern England’s key shopping destinations, Scotch Corner Designer Village (SCDV), have moved forward with the announcement of 19 new retailers including Guess, Monsoon, Molton Brown, Hobbs, and Phase Eight.

Phase 1 is 50% built with construction on the remaining 50% to recommence on-site in September. The opening will be spring 2027 for what will be the largest retail destination opening in the UK during that year.

It’s located at one of the best-known locations in the country, the Scotch Corner junction of the A1(M) and A66 junction with traffic of 44 million people every year. Annual footfall of four million is being projected once it’s open with 1,300 jobs being created.

There will be 73 stores in Phase 1 and the village is now 82% let. After the new retailers just announced, more will be revealed later this summer.

SCDV said that as well as the aforementioned brands, its new signings include Castore, Jack & Jones, Brook Taverner, White Stuff, Haribo, Lindt, Superdry, Radley London, and a huge M&S. They join brands that have already signed including Boss, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Levis, Skechers, Clarks, Moss and Dune London among others.

Newly signed dining options include Pizza Express, Pret A Manger, 2000 Coffee, Knoops and Slim Chickens, alongside Wagamama and Five Guys that had already signed.

SCDV is an ambitious project that has been years in the planning and is aiming to offer more than just fashion shopping. It will include the UK’s largest Blue Diamond home, lifestyle, and garden centre, for instance, which will open after this first retail phase.

It’s set in the middle of the UK’s biggest tourism region outside London (think Richmond, Darlington, the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks).
