New poll shows GOP may have an opening for Midterms with focus on Alzheimer’s care

A new public opinion poll shows Republicans could gain some much-needed momentum in the Midterm Elections if they increase focus on healthcare access surrounding Alzheimer’s Disease.
Fabrizio Ward research company produced the poll and found there is growing concern about access to Alzheimer’s relief and care. And the poll’s analysts said that could work in the GOP’s favor in the election in November.
Alzheimer’s access “can give Republicans a solid healthcare win,” a news release from Fabrizio Ward said.
Americans are overwhelmingly supportive of the Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act. The measure was introduced in Congress in 2025. It’s up for Committee review in both the House and Senate. The bill would provide greater access to screening and testing to better detect Alzheimer’s as would be stipulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“Voters are deeply concerned that insurers and Medicare restrictions are blocking patients from FDA-cleared tests,” the poll found.
The Fabrizio Ward poll tapped 1,000 registered voters April 19-23 across the U.S., though 500 of those were concentrated in key swing states such as Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Some 87% of respondents said it’s important to make a national priority out of combatting Alzheimer’s Disease. Out of those, 50% said it’s very important. Those figures are fairly evenly split among both Republicans and Democrats.
Also, 92% say they support the ASAP Act with 72% saying they strongly support it. A key indicator shows those who voted for President Donald Trump are among the more ardent supporters of the act. They’re also highly skeptical about health insurance companies and what they perceive to be delays and hurdles from that industry.
About 80% of Trump supporters say that health insurance companies are making decisions only to improve profits while about 90% of swing voters feel the same.
Another 92% of those polled say Alzheimer’s patients should have the same opportunity for access to treatments for the disease as cancer patients through new medicines such as cell therapy. Another 69% of those say they strongly agree.
