The National Association of Counties announced it has promoted Abby Davidson to the role of Chief Research Officer.
Davidson was previously the Director of Research, Policy and Governance Studies for the national organization, a post she held since March. She previously worked for the Aspen Institute, in charge of large -scale research projects.
The promotion was the latest step in elevating staff to new key roles in the organization.
Chief Government Affairs Officer Eryn Hurley was promoted within the organization earlier this month, after working as Managing Director of Government Affairs for more than four years.
Meanwhile, Lori Dicker was hired as Chief Public Affairs Officer last year, and Luis Guardia joined as Chief Financial Officer in June.
“Each of these team members brings to our leadership team excellence in their field and a passion for NACo’s mission, strengthening America’s counties,” said NACo Executive Director Matthew Chase. “Our association and the counties we serve need strong internal leadership to drive our work forward with strategy, collaboration and management acumen.”
The Association represents the interests of county governments nationwide at the federal level.
In her new role, Davidson will oversee surveys, economic analysis, data visualization and development of data-driven print and digital resources.
Dicker will bring 20 years of communications and digital experience at PBS, AARP, OmniCom and Publicus Media to the organization. She will now head up branding, membership, conferences and events, corporate sponsorships, civic education, digital marketing and communications, and content, including County News.
Guardia has worked in the nonprofit sector for 30 years, most recently at The Food Research & Action Center, The ONE Campaign and Global Impact Ventures.
Meanwhile, Hurley had worked for county governments for years. She started with the national organization in 2015 as a legislative assistant. She will now lead the Association’s priorities on Capitol Hill, the White House and throughout the federal government.
