Mulberry is to open a pop-up at outlet destination Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth this month with the debut being in good time for the Golden Quarter.

Launching on 16 October, it will be a 1,466 sq ft store opposite Oliver Bonas on The Avenues with the focus being on gifting products as well as its regular offer.

Head of retail and hospitality leasing Pablo Sueiras said that “we’re focused on elevating Gunwharf Quays as a destination for prime retail, and introducing Mulberry to The Avenues is a testament to its growing appeal as a platform for luxury brands”. He added that it’s currently seeing a rise in demand for luxury.

Yvonne Clay, Centre Director at the Landsec-owned-and-operated centre, added: “Welcoming Mulberry is a landmark moment for us. As one of Britain’s most iconic luxury brands, Mulberry represents the pinnacle of craftsmanship, heritage and timeless style. Its arrival underscores our commitment to offering guests exceptional retail experiences and this pop-up will bring something truly special to Portsmouth.”

Mulberry has faced a challenging few years and is still in the middle of its turnaround programme. This summer it launched a £20 million fundraise as its sales continued to fall.

It has had more positive news recently though with last month seeing the renewal of its eyewear deal with De Rigo and the relaunch of its Roxanne bag family.
