M&S continues to its store revitalisation strategy with another major reopening, this time at the Nugent Shopping Park in Orpington, on the outskirts of London.

Following a three-month transformation and extension, the now-37,700 sq ft full-line store features fashion, beauty and food store has just reopened.

Now 72% bigger, fashion and beauty is spread across two floors and includes Womenswear, Menswear and Kidswear, showcasing popular M&S brands like GoodMove, Per Una, and Autograph, alongside a Click & Collect point for online orders.

There’s also a new beauty hall which features M&S’s popular Apothecary range.

This summer M&S said it was “significantly accelerating its store rotation” programme with 16 new, nine extended and 12 renewed stores opening this financial year, using investment of over £300 million.

M&S Orpington is also one of 11 Greater London M&S stores being renewed this financial year, backed by a £90 million investment, also including six new openings in the capital.

In the past year it completed 47 property deals as it filled up its store rotation pipeline, more than the previous three years combined. As part of this, it aims to have 180 full-line, as well as 420 food halls, serving its 32 million customers by the end of FY28, and over 300 new locations are being considered for new stores across the UK.

Of the 16 new stores opening this financial year, two of them are full-line stores and two of them are in outlet destinations.

Other recent re-openings have included Aberdeen Union Square as part of a 97,300 sq ft redevelopment, the Gemini Retail Park, Warrington, Cheshire, plus the new store at Mersey Retail Park in Speke. M&S said the latter store is building on the success of the full-line city centre store in Liverpool One, which opened in 2023, to  “bring the best of M&S to customers in the south of the city”.
