Mike Haridopolos brings total fundraising past $2.3M as he seeks second term in CD 8

U.S. Rep. Mike Haridopolos tallied more than $680,000 in fundraising in the second quarter. That brings the freshman Congressman’s total fundraising to more than $2.3 million.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the confidence our supporters continue to show in this campaign,” said Haridopolos, an Indian Harbour Beach Republican.

“People aren’t obligated to give — they choose to because they believe in our record and our vision. Even in a district widely recognized as safely Republican, we’ve worked hard to build a campaign that helps more than just our own race.”

The high fundraising in the last three months came after a new congressional map made the incumbent’s district more competitive and he drew a prominent challenger in Democrat Jennifer Jenkins.

Haridopolos chairs the House Science, Space, and Technology Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics. In his first term, he was named a whip for the GOP majority on the House Financial Services Committee. He also serves on the Republican Study Committee.

That has quickly generated speculation on his leadership ambitions, which are also based on the fact he previously served as Florida Senate President.

Haridopolos is signaling enough confidence in his re-election effort that he has focused more on helping other candidates as Republicans work to maintain or expand a House majority.

“We’ve raised and contributed more than $1 million to support Republican candidates nationwide because growing our majority is just as important as winning here at home,” Haridopolos said. “I’m honored that my colleagues have entrusted me with key leadership roles in Congress, and I’ll keep working to deliver results for Florida and our country.”

He is gearing up for an almost undoubtedly more competitive race than when he first won office in 2024. Then, he entered the race at the last minute hours before GOP U.S. Rep. Bill Posey announced his retirement. Posey has been a mentor of Haridopolos, who publicly announced the former Congressman’s death earlier this year.

This year, Haridopolos faces no Primary challenger, and to date, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has ignored the race. The major political prognosticators also continue to list Florida’s 8th Congressional District as “Safe Republican.”
