It’s an apt honor. Woodson passed more than half of the bills she sponsored last Session, despite there being a Republican supermajority in both chambers of the Legislature.
In a statement to Florida Politics, Woodson gave credit to the efforts of “countless individuals who believe in creating positive change.”
“It is a privilege to serve as a leader in our state, championing initiatives that uplift our veterans, support our seniors, our teachers, our healthcare personnel, mental health, affordable housing, property insurance and ensure that no young person is left behind,” she said.
“I am deeply grateful for this recognition and remain committed to advocating for the health, dignity, and well-being of all Floridians. Together, we can continue to make Florida a better place for everyone.”

The Broward Democratic Senior Caucus bestowed Woodson the award during its fourth annual Awards Luncheon at the Jacaranda Country Club in Plantation.
Other awardees included former Palm Beach County State Attorney Dave Aronberg, who was given a Lifetime Achievement Award; Dolphin Democrats President Alfredo Olvera, who took Caucus President of the Year honors; and Activism Award winners Jill Aronofsky and Ann Zucker.
Woodson, who is serving as House Democratic Whip during the 2024-26 legislative term, was born in Haiti and moved to Florida in 1981. She works as a public administrator.
Her community involvements have included serving as Chair of the Miami-Dade County Commission for Women and as a member of the Democratic Haitian American Caucus of Florida, League of Women Voters of Broward County and Hollywood Neighborhood Watch Advisory Board.
Woodson is currently running unopposed to keep her House District 105 seat for a fourth consecutive term. She was first elected to the House in 2020.
