Maria Elvira Salazar raises nearly $1M in three months as she gears up for re-election

U.S. Rep. María Elvira Salazar raised nearly $1 million over the past three months to defend a Miami-Dade battleground district.

The Coral Gables Republican shared exclusively with Florida Politics that her re-election campaign and leadership committee, Salazar Victory Committee, pulled in just shy of $949,000 in the first three months of 2026.

“With nearly $1 million raised in the first quarter alone, South Florida is sending an unmistakable message: voters stand firmly behind Rep. María Elvira Salazar,” reads a statement from her campaign.

That’s more than the $922,000 Salazar raised over the course of 2025 and brings her total haul for the election cycle north of $1.87 million. She closed 2025 with more than $1.7 million in her account, and the formal filing will likely show even more cash on hand.

“In FL-27, they know Congresswoman Salazar is a relentless advocate who delivers results and never backs down from fighting for her community,” the campaign statement reads. “That confidence is driving the overwhelming support reflected in a quarter in which she outraised her opponents nearly 3 to 1.”

Salazar first won her seat in Congress in 2020, unseating Democratic U.S. Donna Shalala. She successfully defended the seat in subsequent election cycles, even when targeted by national Democrats.

But she has also sounded alarms about the importance in defending the seat in what appears a difficult political environment for Republicans in the 2026 Midterms. She said it is important for Republicans to maintain inroads with Latino voters who supported President Donald Trump in 2024, and South Florida could be a proving ground.

She stressed that this week on her campaign social media where she promoted her bipartisan DIGNITY ACT.

“I flipped FL-27 in 2020. In March 2021, in front of the U.S. Capitol, I laid out the framework for the Dignity Plan. In February 2022, I introduced the first Dignity Act. That same year, I won my primary by a larger margin and then won reelection by 15%,” she posted.

“In May 2023, I introduced the bipartisan Dignity Act. In 2024, I won my primary with 88.7% of the vote, the best Republican primary performance of any Florida member of Congress who faced a challenger that year, and then won reelection by 21%, outperforming President Trump by 7%. Why? Because I know my district. I represent my district. And the people of FL-27 know I fight for their priorities.”

Several Democrats are competing in a Primary to challenge Salazar including Alex ForninoLev Parnas, Robin Peguero and Elliott Rodriguez.
