Premium British fashion brand Margaret Howell has joined the growing Cotton Lives On recycling programme as it targets textile waste.

The latest connection moves the brand’s sustainability dial yet further for the 50-year-old fashion house that has championed local suppliers and advocated design and production of quality clothing “crafted to last a lifetime”.

The latest programme aims to repurpose collected high cotton content garments from production waste and old textiles and introduced exclusively to Margaret Howell’s London Workroom.

It aims to specifically cut waste from its UK production facility, and head office, enabling employees to contribute and support the Cotton Lives On programme, with co-branded collection points.

Sarah Coleman, head of Development, Design and Sustainability at Margaret Howell, said: “[The brand has] always valued quality and longevity in the materials we use. With the Cotton Lives On recycling programme, we are pleased to be able to repurpose cotton waste from our own London Workroom shirtline, giving cotton a new life.”

Margaret Howell joins a growing collective of UK fashion brands and retailers already participating in the Cotton Lives On recycling programme which for far includes Me+Em, Paige, Charles Tyrwhitt, Hush, Whistles, Hobbs, Phase Eight, L’Estrange, Bianca Saunders, Nexvision and The White Company.
