Germany’s Marc O’Polo is bidding farewell to COO Dr. Patric Spethmann. Spethmann joined the Stephanskirchen-based company in 2019 and, according to a company statement, will leave at the end of the current financial year at his own request, following a successful transformation phase.

Spethmann joined the company almost seven years ago to further develop the scalable, systems-oriented organisational functions at Marc O’Polo. In his role as chief operating officer, he was largely responsible for the digital transformation- marked by the SAP project as well as the realignment of logistics, the development of new end-to-end processes, and the enhancement of various organisational procedures.

“We would like to thank Patric sincerely for his commitment and expertise during a crucial phase for the company,” says Maximilian Böck, CEO of Marc O’Polo SE. “His work has laid the foundation for further expanding our digital activities.”

The Supervisory Board also acknowledges his achievements: “With Dr. Patric Spethmann, we were able to recruit an experienced COO in 2019 who has put his extensive expertise in logistics and IT at the service of the company,” says Werner Böck, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Marc O’Polo SE. Under Spethmann’s leadership, the company succeeded in significantly advancing its infrastructure and processes.

The previous areas of responsibility will be integrated into the existing Management Board team: The IT division will in future fall under CFO/CHRO Markus Staude-Skowronek, while CSO Dr. Dirk Schneider will be in charge of logistics.

With the decision not to fill the position of chief operating officer, the company’s management seeks to underscore the organisation’s growing strength and independence.

“A transformation programme with many projects must be completed at some point- and the company should be in a much better position afterwards than it was at the beginning. That is the task. This is now the case after around seven years. What means the most to me is having built a great team that will continue the journey successfully,” says the outgoing COO, summing up his time in Stephanskirchen.
