Another sitting GOP lawmaker in Florida is preempting their party’s Primary to endorse Yoni Anijar as he runs to represent Broward County in House District 100.
This time it’s Palm Beach Gardens Rep. Meg Weinberger, who earned the nickname “MAGA Meg” for the flood of support from Donald Trump-aligned politicos and the President himself during last year’s election.
In a statement, Weinberger said Anijar has “the experience and vision needed to make a real difference for his community and address the issues most important to Floridians in Tallahassee.”
“Yoni is the conservative choice voters can trust to fight for President Trump’s America First priorities and never back down from the utter insanity of the radical left,” she said.
“Now more than ever, we need courageous figures in the public space who will stand up for truth, common sense, and the conservative values at the heart of our great nation.”
The new nod from Weinberger joins another Anijar, a lawyer and U.S. Army Reserve captain, received last month from Sarasota Sen. Joe Gruters, a former Florida GOP Chair who was elected Chair of the Republican National Committee last month.
Anijar said it “would be an honor” to serve alongside Weinberger in the House, where he hopes to succeed term-limited Rep. Chip LaMarca.
“Meg Weinberger has been a fighting force to help President Trump Make America Great Again in the Florida Legislature. She isn’t afraid to go to battle for what she believes in and what she knows is best for our state and nation,” he said. “Rep. Weinberger is just getting started on her powerful work to make Florida more affordable, safer for families, and more prosperous for the next generation.”
Anijar, a 34-year-old first-generation American, filed to run in January. But he’s no newcomer to the legislative process.
Between 2011 and 2014, he completed three internships in the Florida House and Congress. He has worked for several law firms in Florida, New York, Israel and Washington, D.C., and as corporate counsel for Experian and Tapad, an ad-tech company specializing in cross-device mapping and digital identity resolution.
Today, he works as senior corporate counsel at Flagler Health while continuing to serve as a Judge Advocate General officer with the U.S. Army Reserve.
He’s running to support Trump’s “America First” agenda, stop illegal immigration, protect communities from overdevelopment, eliminate property taxes, reduce insurance costs, fight abortion and safeguard gun rights, according to his campaign website.
In the second quarter of 2025, Anijar added another $100,000 to his campaign coffers to bring his total gains to $221,500 by the end of June.
His two Republican Primary opponents, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Mayor Chris Vincent and pediatric surgeon Eric Stelnicki, have raised $40,000 and $200,000, respectively.
HD 100, which spans a coastal swath of South Florida from Fort Lauderdale north to Deerfield Beach, is the only House district fully within Broward County controlled by Republicans.
LaMarca, who previously served as a Broward County Commissioner, has held the seat since 2018. He won re-election in November with 57.5% of the vote, giving LaMarca his best state-level margin of victory yet.
Banker and former U.S. Senate staffer Jim Brenner is the only Democrat in the HD 100 race.
The 2026 Primary is Aug. 18, followed by the General Election on Nov. 3.
