Lisbon designer Constança Entrudo honored at Portugal’s 29th Globos de Ouro gala

Constança Entrudo was named the winner in the Fashion Personality of the Year category at SIC’s 29th Globos de Ouro (Golden Globes) Gala, which took place at Lisbon’s Coliseu dos Recreios on Sunday night, September 28.

After presenting the Paraíso x Constança Entrudo collaboration on Saturday, September 27 — a limited-edition drop launched at Lisbon’s Lux Frágil nightclub, channeling the spirit of 1990s rave culture — the Lisbon-based fashion designer, known for her commitment to sustainability and material experimentation, returned to the spotlight at the Globos de Ouro ceremony, where she emerged victorious and took home a trophy.

Entrudo, creative director of her eponymous brand, is widely recognized for her work in textile research and innovation. A graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, she has collaborated with prestigious fashion houses, including the French label Balmain, the Belgian-British designer Peter Pilotto, and the Portuguese-British brand Marques’Almeida (M’A). As she accepted her award onstage, Entrudo paid tribute to her early days in fashion and honored her mentors, Marta Marques and Paulo Almeida of M’A, who were also nominees in the category, alongside Inês Amorim and Reid Baker of Ernest W. Baker, Joana Duarte of Béhen, and Valentim Quaresma.

According to ModaLisboa — which Entrudo also thanked on social media — “She develops unique pieces and sustainable fabrics that challenge the usual textile manufacturing processes. She creates with absolute freedom from pre-existing design structures, using trial-and-error methods to arrive at the exclusive materials that distinguish the brand,” the organization notes on its website. The platform is currently highlighting the upcoming edition of Lisbon Fashion Week, which kicks off this week.

On the final day of the fashion week, the Constança Entrudo brand will present its latest collection at Castle HI HI HI, a newly opened shop and creative studio located at 3 Largo de Santa Luzia in Lisbon.

Having made her New York Fashion Week debut in 2024, Entrudo continues to build immersive fashion narratives. “I enjoy creating worlds,” she said while accepting the award. “Each project has its own story that leads me to believe in what may at first seem impossible — and that’s what motivates and guides my work.” She ended her speech with a heartfelt thank-you to her family and close supporters: “Without them, I wouldn’t be here.”
