Jed Gould, AKA “Jed The Fish” — a longtime DJ at renowned L.A. rock radio station KROQ — has died, TMZ has learned.

Jed’s death was announced on his Instagram account this morning, in a post noting he died at 6 AM today at his home. Megan Holiday, a current DJ at KROQ-FM, tells TMZ … Jed died from lung cancer. He had recently been diagnosed with the disease, and unfortunately, he experienced a very rapid decline.

Jed joined KROQ way back in 1978 … the station has long been known as a big-time outlet for alternative rock, new wave, and punk rock. Jed last spun records on the air there in 2012, when he left his afternoon slot, and later returned as host of a 1980s-music-themed satellite show … and he’s worked a couple other station gigs around California, before and after his KROQ tenure.

Jed’s been named the Billboard Modern Rock Personality of the Year twice, as well as the Radio & Records Local Modern Rock Personality of the Year. Various other co-workers and broadcasters are paying tribute on social media this morning to the prolific rocker.

Jed Gould was 69.

Katy Perry was up there doing the most, flashing the onboard camera feed a daisy in honor of her daughter, and casually revealing her ‘Lifetimes’ setlist on a butterfly card — along with Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez gazing down at Earth like the ultimate girl squad in space.

The zero-gravity vibe was major, with the crew — including NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn — kicking back in total style for their 12 minutes of weightless wonder.

Talk about a dream team in orbit — they soaked up every second of the experience, marveled at the moon, and were basically living for those sky-high vibes.

TMZ had the whole blast-off and return to Earth streaming Monday — watching as the capsule deployed its parachutes mid-air, floating down and landing in the dirt by 9:41 AM.

Kris Jenner, Khloé Kardashian, Oprah Winfrey, and Orlando Bloom watched the whole thing go down in the observation area … while Lauren’s fiancé Bezos got a little too excited on the ground, faceplanting while running to open the capsule door and greet the space travelers.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman says Erik and Lyle Menendez needed to ‘fess up to all their lies when talking to TMZ from prison … but their lawyer Mark Geragos says prosecutors are focused on the wrong things.

Nathan and Mark joined us Monday on “TMZ Live” and we asked them about the upcoming resentencing hearing and the brothers’ bid for freedom.

Hochman digs his heels in and argues why Erik and Lyle should remain behind bars  … telling us the Menendez Bros missed a golden opportunity to take responsibility and apologize in their recent TMZ special.

The judge ruled in the brothers’ favor Friday and granted a resentencing hearing that could set them free … but in the Friday hearing, Hochman took some heat for showing old crime scene photos in front of Menendez family members … and now he’s apologizing.

Mark joined us later in the program and pushed back on Hochman … he says Hochman is ignoring the issue at hand here — rehabilitation.

Geragos, who cohosts our “2 Angry Men” podcast, says everyone agrees Erik and Lyle are rehabilitated.
