Let ‘em Run: Saratoga Late Pick 5 Breakdown & Alabama Stakes Preview

Let ’em Run is locked and loaded at Saratoga

Let ’em Run is back in the saddle

The countdown is on: we have 3 more weekends to tap into Saratoga Racing, before this prestigious meet wraps up. This weekend Let ‘em Run will look at the Late P5 on Saturday, which includes The Alabama and the talented filly, Counting Stars. On our podcast Happy Hour Show on Friday at 3PM we will look at the late P3 at Del Mar, which includes The Pacific Mile. Here is our breakdown of the late P5 at Saratoga, races 8 – 12 for Saturday 8/22/26.

Race 8 4:51 EST 5 ½ Furlongs Turf ALW 105K/N1X

The 1st two legs in this sequence, we are looking for value, as the later legs (Races 10 and 11) look like they have a short priced favorite, who will be tough to beat. The #11 Tuthilltown 4-1 closed into a fast pace last time out at this same distance. Jockey Dylan Davis stays aboard, and any scratches will help the outside post position. The #1 Prime Power is #9 Maria Callas 5-1, who had some shoe issues last time out, and was in a key race with next out winner BostonsPhinest. An impressive run to get 3rd place, this time looking for the winners circle. An interesting speed play is #4 Moonlight Ready 8-1, who never got untracked last time out. Winning jockey Dalia Rivera is in the saddle again.

Race 9 5:29 EST 1 Mile Dirt ALW 120K/N1X

This race shapes up for a runner to wire the field per Brisnet stats, and that gives an edge to #5 Stimulate 5-2, with jockey Jose Ortiz getting the mount for trainer William Mott. An interesting longshot to include is the #7 Enforced Agenda 10-1, who was out of the race, from the start last time out. Jockey Javier Castellano is aboard once again for trainer George Weaver who is getting hot recently. Lasix and the strength of previous races, adds to the appeal. The #9 Playa Del Mar 4-1, put up a 98 BSF 2 back, and anything close to that puts this runner in the winners circle.

Race 10 6:07 EST 1 1/16 Mile Turf The Ballston Spa Stakes Gr2 300K

This is one of 2 legs where our ticket gets skinny. The #6 Segesta 7-5, will be tough to beat here. The last 5 outings were Gr1 races, and she was competitive in every one of them, including 2 wins. We are also including the #7 Grayosh 8-1, who will have a shot to close if any kind of speed duel breaks out. Jockey Tyler Gaffalione will look to guide this runner to the winners circle with a strong closing kick. This entry possesses the highest TimeformUS Late pace figure in the field.

Race 11 6:42 EST 1 ¼ Mile Dirt The Alabama Gr1 600K

We will not be alone taking a stand here on #6 Counting Stars 1-2. This filly is 2 for 2 at Saratoga, has the highest TimeformUS Early pace figure in the field, and is also the #1 Prime Power per Brisnet…by a lot. Too many checkmarks to ignore for this very talented filly. Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. looks to make it 3 in a row here.

Race 12 7:16 EST 1 3/16 Turf MSW 115K

This is where we hope to hear the finest 2 words in any horizontal wager… “will pays”. We are landing on the #8 Osmosis (Fr) 9-2, who just missed last out at shorter, so this longer distance is a big plus. Getting Lasix for the 1st time may help this runner finish the job, after just missing last out. Also on our ticket will be the #6 Mary Lois (Ire) 7-2 with jockey Flavian Prat staying along for the ride. The #1 Prime Power in this race adds to the appeal. Jockey Kendrick Caramouche will look to have the #3 Home Wrecker 10-1 forwardly placed in this turf route race. The experience this runner has may come in handy, and Caramouche was aboard for the run 2 back, when she did show some tactical speed.

So our ticket looks like this 3,4,6,9,11 / 2,3,4,5,7,9 / 6,7 / 6 / 3,4,6, 8 = $120

I will be live in Saratoga for ourHappy Hour Podcast at 3PM (Thank you partner JK for a nice picnic setup) and again on Saturday at 12:30 to cover the late P5 at Saratoga. The weather looks GREAT, and the track on both days should be fast and firm. So be sure to tune in on Sports Talk Media Network and Capital Sports Network for both shows. And remember, bet smart, cheer hard, fast horses can mean some serious fun and in the end…Let ‘em Run.
