As we get closer to the big races at The Belmont Stakes Racing Festival at Saratoga, we will provide some nice warm ups to wet our handicapping appetites. Let ‘em Run will break down the Late P5 at Churchill Downs for Saturday 6/30/2026.
The sequence offers five Stakes Races to look at, so be sure to tune in on Friday’s Happy Hour at 3 pm, and again on Saturday at 12:30 pm. We can be viewed on Sports Talk Media Network, as well as multiple streaming apps and social channels. Now to how we did on the Late P5 at Belmont at The Big A on Saturday 5/23/2026.
Recap: The Late P5 Belmont at the Big A
Race 6
Our top pick #2 Gold Sovereign finished 2nd to front running longshot #7 Versailles, ridden by Manny Franco, and kicked off the pick 5 with a price: $66.24. Our speed play in the race, #5 Mortal Lock, never got out of the gate, and just jogged around the track, for essentially what was a workout. We have our eye on him the next time he shows up.
Race 7
Our top pick #3 Intricate Spirit, showed up as expected, and paid $5.40 for the effort. Putting blinkers on this runner was the key to victory.
Race 8
We took a stand here, and labeled this runner as a single in any horizontal bets by our handicapping friends. The #7 Classicist showed his class in the stretch and paid $4.68.
Race 9
This was a tough race to figure out, and our top pick #10 Freaky gave a strong effort, but finished in 5th place, no help for us. Our second choice, #5 Middle Market, finished a nice second place and paid $9.36 for the strong effort.
Race 10
We labeled #3 Cuando was our speed play of the day, but something was amiss as soon as the gates opened, and he was essentially pulled up. Officials scratched our second pick, #9 Innate. It was good to see jockey Dylan Davis make it to the winners circle on #6 Shape Note. He continues to get into riding shape after recovering from some serious injuries in a fall earlier this year. Look for him to be riding strong at the Saratoga meet.
