Let ’em Run: Review of Saturday, 5/30/26 and Preview of Belmont Day
Well, the saying may go, “Two out of three ain’t bad,” but four out of five is painful! We did it again with our Pick 5, but we still landed some winners along the way. Tune in Friday, June 5, 2026, at 3:00 PM for our Belmont Happy Hour, and again Saturday at 12:30 PM.
On both days, we will be joined live from Saratoga by my partner, John Kostin, and friend of the show, Wadie Khalaf. “Let ’em Run” will have boots on the ground to provide the kind of insight and perspective that can only come from being right there at the track.
The big race, of course, is on Saturday, June 6th—the Belmont Stakes. However, both the Friday and Saturday cards are completely stacked. We will be providing insight into many of the weekend’s events, paying particular attention to Saturday’s Late Pick 5 spanning Races 9 through 13. Be sure to tune in on the Sports Talk Media Network, as well as our multiple streaming apps and social channels.
Breakdown of Saturday, 5/30/26 at Churchill Downs
Race 7
Our speed play scratched out of the race. Thankfully, our second choice took the victory on the win end; #8 Sweet Treasure got the job done and paid out $6.96 for the effort. One down, four to go in the Pick 5.
Race 8
Our second choice ran in second, but on our Pick 5 ticket, we held the heavy chalk. #2 Cornucopian didn’t disappoint, paying a chalky $3.56 to win. Two down, three to go.
Race 9
Our top pick, #5 Faithful Departed, absolutely took over this race, hitting the wire first and paying a very nice $10.94. The excitement is definitely building with three legs officially down in the Pick 5.
Race 10
We went thin here and carried just a single choice on our ticket: #1 Rattle N Roll. Unfortunately, this runner just didn’t fire. If you deviated and included the actual winner, #6 Original Sin, kudos to you—he paid out $12.84 to win. Our Pick 5 ticket is officially done for the day, but we still want to see what happens in the final leg.
Race 11
Our top pick, #9 Quatrocentro, flashed the early speed in the race, but the best this runner could do under pressure was a fifth-place finish. For what it’s worth, we did back the actual winner, #3 Lagynos, on our main sheet. The Pick 5 ultimately paid out a massive $1,059 for the winning sequence, so missing by just one leg still deserves a nice pat on the back.
