Let ’em Run hits Pick 5 at Gulfstream Park

Let ’em Run had a tough weekend at Gulfstream Park

But they are not going to retire on their Gulfstream Park winnings anytime soon

So we saw, we went, but we did not conquer, as Let ‘em Run, and specifically myself and John Kostin, traveled to Monmouth Park to do our live podcast, and participate in the NHC contest. It was certainly a great experience for me, as John has been to several contests, and he is also a multi time participant in the NHC at Las Vegas. We took our shots, and at times looked like we may creep up the leaderboard, and 2nd place finishes doomed us. We will give another go when contests come around, likely again in late March, so stay tuned: we also picked the Gulfstream Park pick 5, and the results are below.

Late Pick 5 Recap at Gulfstream Park

As far as our breakdown of the Late P5 at Gulfstream Park, we were absolutely spot on in every race, particularly our assessment of the Holy Bull. It was definitely a chalky affair, as evidenced by our payout on the P5 we laid out in the podcast. We all hit the P5, for a whopping $25.25! The cost of the tickets varied, but nevertheless, a chalky affair for sure.

Let’s break down the races.

Race 8

As noted in the podcast and article, this was essentially a “free square” (one of 2 as my ticket reflected). #6 Solitude Dude was much the best, and looked very impressive in doing so. The payout was $2.40 for the effort.

Race 9

This was Bro’s BRISnet Play of the Day, and it did come through, as #2 Talbingo pulled out the victory very nicely. The morning line at 5-1 was what we were banking on, but at post time went off much lower, and paid $4.60. I guess more people paid attention than we thought !! Nevertheless our breakdown of why this horse was a play of the day was spot on.

Race 10

We were hoping that maybe a price may jump up here, but #6 On Time Girl came through as the winner and paid $4.20, and was in our bullseye as well. Our price play, #8 Impeartrice did come through for 2nd place and paid $7.00 for that spot.

Race 11

Here was another “free square” on my ticket, and #8 Sister Troienne lived up to her expectations, and drew clear while in hand to run the field down. She paid $3.00 for that impressive ride, and one to have on your radar moving forward.

Race 12 – The Holy Bull Stakes

The Holy Bull was the race of the day, and the coming out party for the winner #7 Nearly. Jockey John Velazquez and trainer Todd Pletcher have this runner on a good path for the run for the roses in May. We drew this race up perfectly on the podcast (see attached clip), as Nearly tracked front running #5 Cannoneer, and ran by him when J.V. said go. This is my pick for the Derby, and look forward to seeing him again, likely in the Fountain of Youth in late March.

Upcoming BRISnet Plays and Podcast Coverage

We will continue to put out more info on podcasts during the week, with JK’s BRISnet Play of the Day, and Bro’s BRISnet play of the Day. Be sure to check out the wealth of info on BRISnet.com to help you make informed decisions on your handicapping adventures.

Oaklawn Park Southwest Stakes Preview

We will be having a special Podcast on Friday at 1 pm (instead of our Happy Hour at 3pm) to break down the Late P5 at Oaklawn Park, which will begin with race 8 on Friday. The sequence Friday at Oaklawn includes a big field in The Southwest Stakes, another derby prep race in the crosshairs for Let ‘em Run.

Tampa Bay Downs Sam F. Davis Preview

We will return on Saturday at 12:30 to take a look at the Late P5 at Tampa Bay Downs, which includes the Sam F. Davis, another Derby Prep Race to break down.

Aqueduct Weather Watch and Final Thoughts

Not sure that mother nature will be doing any favors for racing at Aqueduct on Friday (which includes The Withers, another Derby Prep race), and again this weekend, as the forecast looks bitter cold, and possible snow on Friday… ugghh. But stay tuned, since if they do go, they have a very nice, loaded card to look at.
