1:15 PM PT — Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman came out swinging in his latest comments on the Rob and Michele Reiner double-murder case … he says the death penalty is on the table if their son, Nick Reiner, is convicted of murdering his parents.

Hochman says Nicks is going to be charged with two counts of first-degree murder, and he says the charges come with stiff penalties, if convicted … a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, or even the death penalty.

The D.A. was quick to say there’s been no final decision on going after the death penalty here, but the fact he even mentioned it right off the bat is pretty interesting.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman and LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell are set to hold a press conference at 1 PM PT to update the public on the Rob and Michele Reiner double-murder case.

As we reported … Rob and Michele’s 32-year-old son Nick was arrested on suspicion of killing his parents after they were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood, California home Sunday afternoon.

Nick’s first court appearance in connection with the murders was scheduled for today, but was taken off the books after he was not medically cleared to appear in court. His attorney told TMZ this morning he has not received any filing yet from prosecutors.

While Nick lived at home with his parents, Romy noted to the police Nick wasn’t at the home when she arrived, insinuating he fled.

We now know Nick checked into The Pierside Santa Monica hotel around 4 AM Sunday, using his credit card. The reservation was made for just a day, but Nick never formally checked out. When the staff came into his room later Sunday morning, they found the shower “full of blood” and blood on the bed.

Wiiiild scene in Thailand … a pro soccer player attacked a retired U.S. cop and a bar employee after he allegedly tried to skip out on his tab, and boy was he handed some instant karma!

The chaos was caught on video … showing Osvaldo Dos Santos Neto leaving the Tinder Bar in Udon Thani early Monday morning.

All appeared normal until the bar crew followed Neto out, accusing him of walking out on his 5,100-baht bill (about $162 USD), and that’s where things got wild.

That didn’t work … at all. Locals and the bar crew began wailing on Neto, eventually forcing him out of his car and hitting him some more.

Eventually, Neto managed to get back in his car and drive away for good.

Police Captain Pongpol Piwphong of the Mueang Udon Thani Police Station said two male bar employees suffered injuries, including abrasions to their faces and hands.

The bar owner, Kanyanee Kaewnok, said they plan to file a police report and “pursue legal action,” explaining it all started when Neto came around 3 AM and threw back some beers, hanging out until dawn.

According to the bar staff, when they gave Neto his bill, he claimed he couldn’t get into his bank account because it was locked.

“He sat there for a long time, refusing to pay the money until almost 9 AM. I wanted to close the bar and go home to rest, so I suggested that he withdraw money from the ATM in front,” the owner said.

“He walked out, but we sensed that something was wrong and followed him outside. He was evasive and suspicious because he kept grabbing his sedan key and tried to run to his car several times. We surrounded him and negotiated for a long time without success until the commotion you saw broke out.”

Neto, 42, is a winger/midfielder from Brazil who has played for several teams in the Thai League, including the PT Prajuap FC and Srisaket United.

He signed with Udon United days before the incident.

The second of 2 doctors who pleaded guilty in connection with Matthew Perry‘s death was sentenced Tuesday … and the judge gave Dr. Mark Chavez a pretty light sentence.

United States District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett sentenced Chavez to eight months’ home confinement and ordered him to complete 300 hours of community service.

In October 2024, Chavez pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine. He quickly cut a deal with the feds after a slew of arrests were made in connection with Perry’s death. Chavez admitted to selling ketamine to Dr. Salvador Plasencia, which was then sold to Perry weeks before the actor’s fatal overdose.

Prosecutors said Chavez obtained the ketamine fraudulently by submitting a prescription in the name of a patient without the patient’s knowledge or consent.

Earlier this month, Plasencia was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to 4 counts of distributing ketamine.

The text was highlighted in a victim impact letter written to the judge by Perry’s stepfather, Keith Morrison.

He wrote, “This doctor conspired to break his most important vows, repeatedly, sneaked through the night to meet his victim in secret. For what, a few thousand dollars? So he could feed on the vulnerability of our son…and crow, as he did so, with that revealing question: ‘I wonder how much this moron will pay. Let’s find out.'”

As you know … Perry overdosed on ketamine and drowned in his hot tub back in 2023.
