Former state Rep. Katherine Waldron has secured several new endorsements in her campaign for Palm Beach County Commission, District 6, picking up support from a mix of congressional, state and local officials.
Waldron, a one-term state lawmaker and two-term Port of Palm Beach Commissioner, entered the District 6 race earlier this year, looking to unseat incumbent Republican Commissioner Sara Baxter.
Her new backers include U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, Senate Democratic Leader Lori Berman, Palm Beach County Tax Collector Anne Gannon, Royal Palm Beach Vice Mayor Sylvia Sharps, Haverhill Vice Mayor Lawrence Gordon, Palm Beach Port Commissioner Blair Ciklin, former state Rep. Emily Slosberg and former Wellington Mayor Bob Margolis.
Frankel called Waldron a fighter who prioritizes constituents.
“Katherine Waldron is a proven community leader who understands the needs of Palm Beach County seniors and families and has the experience, work ethic, and commitment to get things done,” Frankel said. “She is a relentless Democratic fighter who puts people first, and I am proud to endorse her campaign for County Commission District 6.”
Berman, who served alongside Waldron in the Florida House, cited her record as a collaborator.
“Having worked alongside Katherine during her time in the Florida House, I know firsthand what an outstanding partner she was in delivering for Palm Beach County,” Berman said
“Katherine knows how to get things done, build coalitions, and bring home the resources our communities deserve. Her experience, integrity, and commitment to public service make her exactly the kind of leader we need on the County Commission.”
Waldron was grateful for the breadth of support.
“I am honored to have the support of so many leaders who have served Palm Beach County with integrity and dedication,” Waldron said.
“These endorsements are about more than politics. They are about building a coalition that is ready to work together, solve problems, and deliver for the residents of District 6. From roads and infrastructure to public safety, affordability, and responsible growth, I am ready to bring experienced, effective leadership to the County Commission.”
District 6 covers western Palm Beach County communities including Belle Glade, Loxahatchee Groves, Pahokee, Royal Palm Beach, South Bay, Wellington, and Westlake.
Waldron faces three Democratic Primary opponents in Mohammad Junaid Akther, Mario Guzman and Rudolph “Rudy” Tinker.
